Hopes to Ease Pain of Hall of Fame Rejection

Atlanta - Georgia's First Dog Ivy Perdue today invited University of Georgia mascot and the state's real first Dog Uga for a sleepover at the Governor's Mansion. Ivy said through a spokesperson that she hoped to ease the pain of Uga's recent rejection by the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame which refused to consider admitting him and his predecessors despite years of service to football, the university and the state.

"Ivy was devastated by the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Authority's decision and hopes that an evening running around the grounds at the mansion and enjoying a nice meal will help take Uga's mind off of it," said Ivy spokeswoman Lauren Curry.

Curry also admitted that Ivy has a bit of a crush on the studley mascot. "She does like the husky, athletic type and never misses a televised game," Curry said.

"She'd been begging the Governor to take her to a game this season, and I hope he does," added Jen Englert, assistant to the First Lady and Ivy confidant.

Ivy, a seven-year-old boxer, moved to the Mansion two months ago and enjoys drinking from the pool, rolling in the grass and playing with the Perdue's twin granddaughters.
