Governor Perdue Announces Judicial Appointments

 ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following three judicial appointments:

  • Warren P. Davis - Superior Court, Gwinnett Judicial Circuit.  The vacancy was created by HB 118 during the 2007 legislative session.
  • Edgar W. Ennis - Superior Court, Macon Judicial Circuit.  The vacancy was created by the resignation of the Honorable Bryant Culpepper.
  • Ethelyn N. Simpson - State Court of Athens-Clarke County.  The vacancy was created by HB 215 during the 2007 legislative session.

 

Brief biographies are provided below:

Warren P. Davis, 56, Norcross, GA – Davis has practiced law in Georgia since 1979.  He has served as the chief magistrate of Gwinnett County for the past 23 years.   Davis was awarded the William R. McMahon Award from the American Bar Association.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from New York State University and a law degree from Columbia Southern School of Law.  Davis is married to Elizabeth C. Belden.   He has four children and three step-children.

 

Edgar “Ed” W. Ennis, Jr., 62, Macon, GA – Ennis is a partner of the firm Constangy, Brooks, & Smith, LLC.  Previously Ennis served as the United States attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.   He is a member and past-president of the Macon Exchange Club.  Ennis earned his bachelor’s degree from the United States Air Force Academy and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.  He and his wife, Judith, have two children.

 

Ethelyn N. Simpson, 50, Athens, GA – Simpson has served as a part-time judge of Magistrate Court of Athens-Clarke County since August 2006.  From 1999 - 2005, she served as municipal court judge of Athens-Clarke County.   She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Western Judicial Bar Association.  She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
