Governor Files Injunction in Middle District of Florida  

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that the state of Georgia has filed a court order in the Middle District of Florida Federal Court requiring the Army Corps of Engineers to restrict water flows from Lake Lanier and Georgia’s federal reservoirs. 

The motion for preliminary injunction was filed late this afternoon, seeking an immediate modification of the water flows leaving Georgia reservoirs to flow downstream intended to provide roughly double the amount of water for endangered mussel and sturgeon species than that which would be provided by nature under these circumstances.

Governor Perdue is holding a press conference to discuss Georgia’s historic drought tomorrow Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Lanier at the Mary Alice Park.
