ATLANTA, GA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Pirelli Tire North America is opening a 247,000 square foot distribution center in Henry County. Governor Perdue was joined by Pirelli Tire CEO Guy Mannino for the announcement at the State Capitol.

“One of my top priorities as Governor is creating jobs for Georgians. And one of the most important ways we do that is to work closely with our existing customers to make sure we keep meeting their needs as they grow,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “This new distribution center is a welcome contribution to the Georgia economy. It speaks well of our relationship with Pirelli Tires and of our state’s overall commitment to serving the needs of Georgia companies.”

Pirelli is partnering with logistics leader Kuehne & Nagel Inc., which will provide third party distribution services. The companies will lease space at the Interstate South Building in McDonough, Georgia, adding 40 jobs and a five to eight million dollar investment to the state of Georgia. The distribution center will house over $35 million of tire inventory and will receive 2000+ containers of Pirelli tires that annually arrive from European and South American factories though the port of Savannah. Pirelli is also adding 40 jobs at their U.S. headquarters in Rome, Georgia.

“We have a solidly growing business in North America and particularly in the Southeast, so our Georgia location is really working for us,” said Guy Mannino, President and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America. “This new warehouse is part of Pirelli’s new ‘Logistics and Customer Care Action Plan’ targeted to enhance our total client service. This initiative in particular is geared to improving service to our customers across the Eastern U.S.”

Three years ago, Pirelli relocated their U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operations to Rome where they manufacture high performance tires and employ over 150 Georgians. Pirelli Tire North America specializes in the manufacture and marketing of high performance car, light truck, and motorcycle tires and currently has three of its highly advanced MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System) modules in operation at the Rome factory.
