ATLANTA, GA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued an Executive Order today offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the 1995 murder of Nicole Smith and the recent rape of a 13 year-old East Point girl.

“I hope that this reward assists in the capture and conviction of this vicious predator,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.  “Any person who preys on our children will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

On June 7, 1995, Nicole Smith, an eighth-grade Atlanta middle school student was sexually assaulted and fatally shot on her way to school.  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has linked Nicole Smith's assailant to the rape of the East Point girl through DNA analysis.
