Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Children and Youth Coordinating Council

Andy Barclay, 44, Atlanta, GA, At Large Representative- Barclay and his wife, Michelle, are founders of the Barton Clinic, a partnership program with Emory University that strives to encourage students from all fields to pursue public-interest career paths.  Barclay has over twenty-five years of computing experience in both the private and public sectors and works as a full-time volunteer technical consultant to many of Georgia's non-profit and governmental agencies.  He also represents the Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court on the Board of the Georgia Technology Authority.  Barclay is a graduate of Tulane University, holds master's degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering from Stanford University and Georgia Tech, and is completing a PhD in Biostatistics at Emory.  The couple has a keen interest in juvenile law and child maltreatment issues.  They have a son.

Consumer Advisory Board

Kimbley Puckett, 31, McDonough, GA, 8 th Congressional District Representative (Reappointment)- Puckett has been a Supervising Attorney for the Georgia Legal Services Program since 2001.  She also maintains her own caseload, specializing in Family Law.  Puckett has been admitted to the Superior Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court.  She is a member of the Douglas County Domestic Violence Task Force and the Floyd County Bar Association.  Puckett earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University.  She has two children.

Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Authority

Pete Cox, 72, Americus, GA, At Large (Reappointment)- Cox is an original member of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and has served on the governing body for twenty-five years.  He is a former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Authority, and in 1991 he was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.  Cox played football for his alma mater, Furman University.  He won the Georgia State Amateur title in 1963 as well as over 150 amateur golf championships.  Cox has also been honored in the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and the Albany Sports Hall of Fame.  He and his wife, Susan, have two children.

Board of Trustees of the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund

Jimmy Braswell, 43, Macon, GA, Public-At-Large Representative- Braswell is a Certified Public Accountant and a partner in Lamb and Braswell, an accounting firm.  He volunteers his time by serving on the Board of Directors for the Vine Ingle Little League, and is a member of the Small Business Development Assistance Oversight Committee for the Economic and Community Development Office for the City of Macon.  Braswell is a Past President of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia.  He is a graduate of Mercer University.

State Board of Cosmetology

Kay Kendrick, 49, Thomson, GA, Cosmetologist Representative- Kendrick is the owner of Cut & Style.  She is a former cosmetology instructor at the University of Georgia and has taught hairdressers how best to serve cancer patients through the American Cancer Society.  Kendrick is the current President and a twenty-year member of the National Cosmetology Association of Georgia.  She is a member of the American Cancer Society Steering Committee, Look Good Feel Better Project, and the Augusta Mental Health Board.  Kendrick and her husband, Walter, have four children.

John Siggers, 65, Atlanta, GA, Cosmetologist Representative- Siggers has operated his salon, Siggers Hairdressers, for the last forty-three years.  He has taught contemporary hairdressing and coloring techniques across the country.  Siggers is a twenty-seven-year member of Intercoiffure, an elite world-wide organization that meets annually to determine styling standards.  He volunteers his time as a board member of the You Can Make A Difference Charity, which devotes resources and assistance to melanoma cancer patients.  He and his wife, Carol, have a son.

State Board of Funeral Service

David Roach, 43, Powder Springs, GA, Funeral Director Representative- Roach is the owner and founder of West Cobb Funeral Home.  He is the Vice President of the Independent Funeral Directors of Georgia, and past President of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia.  Roach is a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association and volunteered with that organization in the Albany Cemetery flood cleanup in 1994.  He is a graduate of Gupton Jones College with a degree in Mortuary Science.  He and his wife, Valerie, have two children.

State Board of Podiatry Examiners

Sarvepalli Jokhai, 39, Macon, GA, Podiatrist Representative- Jokhai practices at the Foot and Ankle Center of Middle Georgia.  He is a member of the Georgia and American Podiatric Associations.  Jokhai volunteers his time with Relay for Life.  He is a graduate of City University of New York, and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University.  He and his wife, Marlis, have two children.

Christoph Zenker, 40, Acworth, GA, Podiatrist Representative (Reappointment)- Zenker is a practitioner with the Marietta Podiatry Group.  He is former Chief of Podiatry Service at the Emory Clinic, and served as an Assistant Professor during that time.  Prior to this, Zenker operated a private, solo practice for ten years.  He has served as the President of the State Board of Podiatry Examiners since 2001.  Zenker has authored works in seven podiatric publications and has given six professional lectures.  He is a member of the Georgia and the American Podiatric Medical Associations and is certified with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.  Zenker is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, and earned a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.  He and his wife, Cara, have two children.
