Governor Perdue Announces Judicial Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of J. Kelly Brooks to the State Court of Charlton County and Samuel C. Finster, Sr. to the State Court of Chattooga County. Governor Perdue also announced the appointment of Edmund H. Skorupski as Solicitor General for Charlton County.

Brief biographies are provided below:

J. Kelley Brooks, 42, Folkston , GA , State Court of Charlton County - Brooks is a partner in Adams and Brooks in Folkston, where he offers general civil and criminal counsel. He has served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Nahunta since 1993 and for the City of Hoboken since 1997. Brooks is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and is a former President, Vice President, and Secretary for the Waycross Bar Association. He earned an accounting degree from Georgia Southern University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children.

Samuel C. Finster, Sr., 60, Summerville , GA , State Court of Chattooga County - Finster has served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Summerville since 1986. He served honorably in the U. S. Army, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. Finster volunteered his professional knowledge for five years as the Mock Trial Team Attorney Coach at Trion High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Troy State University and a Juris Doctor from Woodrow Wilson School of Law.

Edmund H. Skorupski, 36, Folkston , GA, Charlton County Solicitor - Skorupski manages a private law firm. He served honorably in the U. S. Navy Reserves as an Operations Specialist. Skorupski is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Waycross Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He earned a degree in political economics from Williams College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia.
