Industry Leaders Outline Successes in Georgia G8 Summit Panel Discussion
SAVANNAH , GA – Leaders from Georgia 's business community met today at the G8 Summit International Media Center for a panel discussion focused on the economic conditions in Georgia and how the state has created an environment ripe for business growth and prosperity.
Participants included Dr. Michael Adams, president of the University of Georgia; Pete Correll, chairman and CEO of Georgia-Pacific Corp.; Doug Marchand, executive director of the Georgia Ports Authority; and Robert Ratliff, chairman, president and CEO of AGCO Corp.
“ Georgia provides fertile ground for growing successful, global corporations,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “Our pro-business climate, superior infrastructure, and skilled workforce provide advantages that help companies succeed.”
Georgia is the leading global commercial center in the fast growing South. It is home to 16 Fortune 500 companies, and more than 75 percent of Fortune 1000 companies have operations in the state. Global companies such as AGCO, The Coca-Cola Company, UPS, Georgia-Pacific, Delta Air Lines, CNN, AFLAC, Gulfstream and GE Power Systems call Georgia home.
