Governor Perdue Announces New Department Head of the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the election of Richard McGee to serve as Administrator of the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund, effective May 1, 2004. Governor Perdue made his recommendation to the board and on April 28, 2004 the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund Board of Trustees approved McGee.

"Disabled Georgians deserve access to quality work opportunities," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "The Administrator of the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund has the responsibility of keeping disabled workers in the workforce as well as giving employers the financial incentive to employ them. Richard McGee brings many years of experience to this agency which will help him carry out the mission of the organization."

Since 1972, McGee, 64, has owned and operated McGee Realty Company. He served at the Georgia Department of Labor for over 14 years, including 4 years as Deputy Commissioner. McGee is past Chairman of the Waycross-Ware Development Authority and served as Vice President of Economic Development of the Waycross-Ware Chamber of Commerce. He served in the United States Navy, Engineering Division, and was honorably discharged in 1964.

McGee is a past member of the Governor's Task Force for Rural Development and Chairman of the CEDO (Community Economic Development Organization) Southeast Region 11 Governor's Development Council, which covered roughly twelve counties.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University. McGee and his wife, Jill, have four children and five grandchildren.
