Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding unanimous passage of his Levi's Call legislation by the House of Representatives:
"Improving Levi's Call is an important step toward providing greater protection for our state's most precious resource. This legislation will help expedite searches for missing and abducted children by eliminating liability for broadcast outlets and allowing them to disseminate information more quickly. I appreciate the efforts of my Floor Leaders on this issue. I also want to thank Representative Mary Margaret Oliver for her support of this bill and for moving it quickly out of committee."
Passage of Levi's Call represents the fifth initiative of the Governor's legislative agenda passed by both chambers of the General Assembly (Child Protection, Flexibility and Accountability in Education, Bright from the Start, Seed-Capital Fund, and Levi's Call). Three initiatives remain (School Discipline, Faith and Family Services Amendment, and Ethics Reform).
