Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue today joined officials from CARBO Ceramics, Inc. (CARBO) and Wilkinson County to announce plans for a new manufacturing plant. CARBO is investing $62 million to develop facilities on an 80 acre site. This investment will create up to 50 new jobs for Middle Georgia.

"I'm proud that after doing business in Georgia for several years, CARBO has decided to increase its commitment to this community and our state," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "We value these kinds of existing relationships. This project came about because the community, the state, and our private sector came together as partners with CARBO to meet the company's needs."

CARBO Ceramics Inc. initially invested $75 million and created 63 jobs in Wilkinson County in 1999. CARBO moved to Wilkinson County to take advantage of Georgia 's rich kaolin reserves. For the second year in a row, CARBO has been named one of the Forbes 200 Best Small Companies.

CARBO is a leading manufacturer of environmentally friendly ceramic media for use in the hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and oil wells. For more information, visit www.carboceramics.com .
