Governor Perdue Recommends Bill Todd to Serve as President of Georgia Cancer Coalition

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today his recommendation of Bill Todd to serve as President of the Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC). Todd will assume the duties of GCC President upon approval by the GCC Board of Directors.

"A strong and active Cancer Coalition is critical to Georgia's fight against this dreaded disease," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "Bill will bring to the Cancer Coalition strong business acumen and an extensive knowledge of healthcare and related issues. His leadership, along with the Board of Directors, will help further the Coalition's mission and goals."

The mission of GCC is to make Georgia a national leader in cancer treatment by accelerating research, prevention, early detection, and treatment. Russ Toal resigned as President to the GCC Board of Directors in September to entertain other job opportunities. Nancy Paris has served as the Interim President since Toal's resignation.

A brief biography of Bill Todd is provided below:

Todd has served the Perdue Administration as the Executive Director of the Commission for a New Georgia since May 2003. The Commission is designed to infuse expertise from the private sector into the operations of state government to improve efficiency and effectiveness in a changed culture. He has also served as a special assistant working on various projects, including Medicaid Reform. He has worked in health care and technology development throughout his 32-year career in business, academia, and government. Prior to joining the Governor's Office, he was the founding CEO of Encina Technology Ventures, LLC, after serving as the founding president of the Georgia Research Alliance for ten years. Bill is an alumnus of Georgia Tech and a fourth generation Atlantan.
