- Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement regarding the passing of State Trooper Tony Lumley:
"It was with great sadness that I heard the tragic news about Trooper Lumley. He gave his life while fulfilling his duty to protect and serve fellow Georgians. His bravery will be remembered. On behalf of all Georgians, Mary and I extend our deepest condolences to the Lumley family, their friends, and the law enforcement community. We will keep them all in our thoughts and prayers."
Lumley, 36, died this morning at Grady Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred while pursuing a fleeing armed robbery and carjacking suspect.
