Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following appointments to State Boards and Commissions:
State Children's Trust Fund Commission
Bill Fuqua, 38, Lake Park, GA (2nd Congressional District) - Fuqua currently serves as Vice President of Citizen Community Bank, Chairman of the Lowndes County Board of Education and is a member of the Lowndes County Economic Development Committee. He holds an undergraduate degree from Auburn University. Fuqua is married to Denise and has three children.
Alice Ann Thompson, 51, Tucker, GA (4th Congressional District) - Thompson currently serves as principal of Nancy Creek Theme School and is a member of the State Level Teacher Certification Test Advisory Board. She holds an undergraduate degree from Virginia Union University and advanced degrees from Atlanta University, Georgia State University and the University of Sarasota. She is married to Oscar.
Board of Corrections
Ellis Wood, 55, Statesboro, GA (At-Large) - Wood currently serves as Chairman of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport Committee and Chief Pilot for the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and founder of Ellis Wood Contracting, Inc. Wood and his wife, Kathy, have two children.
Georgia Board of Dentistry
Logan Nalley, Jr., 51, Augusta, GA (Eastern District) - Nalley currently serves as President of the Georgia Board of Dentistry and is an assistant clinical professor at the Medical College of Georgia's School of Dentistry. Nalley received his undergraduate degree from North Georgia College and his D.M.D. from Medical College of Georgia. He is married to Thalia and has five children.
Willis "Jimmy" Walker, Jr., 59, Augusta, GA (At-Large) - Walker currently operates a private practice and is being reappointed to the Georgia Board of Dentistry. He holds an undergraduate degree from Paine College, a graduate degree from Wayne State University and received his D.M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. Walker is married to Adrienne and has two children.
Stephan F. Holcomb, Sr., 52, Kathleen, GA (At-Large) - Holcomb currently serves as a member of the Georgia Board of Dentistry for the Medical College of Georgia Predoctoral Liaison Committee and is a foundation board member and member of the Hygiene Advisory Board of the Middle Georgia Technical Institute. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and his D.M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. Holcomb is married to Robin and has four children.
Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority
Louise S. Shackleford, 60, Dublin, GA (Municipal) - Shackleford currently serves Bank of America as a Vice President. She is a member of the Dublin City Council and a member of the Georgia Economic Development Council. Shackleford holds an undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University. She is married to James and has two children.
J.C. Warren, 51, Sylvania, GA (County) - Warren currently serves as Chairman of the Screven County Board of Commissioners and as Commissioner of District #5. He has also served as a volunteer fireman and is supervisor at Sylvania Yarn Systems. Warren is married to Kathy and has two children.
State Forestry Commission
H. G. Yeomans III, 66, Swainsboro, GA - Yeomans is a former Emanuel County Commissioner and currently serves on the boards of the Georgia Forestry Association and the Emanuel County Duck Conservation Society. He also serves on advisory boards for the Emanuel County Historical Society and the Swainsboro Technical College. He founded and operates Yeomans Wood and Timber, Inc. Yeomans and his wife, Carol, have two children.
Georgia Commission on the Holocaust
David J. Rubenstein, 38, Atlanta, GA - Rubenstein is currently a principal in The Miller Richmond Company. He also serves as a member of the boards of the American Israel Chamber of Commerce, the American Jewish Committee, Southeast Chapter, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. Rubenstein holds an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University. He and his wife, Kathy, have two children.
Claire Allen D'Agostino, 58, Atlanta, GA - D'Agostino currently serves as District Manager for Health and Inmate Services for the Atlanta Department of Corrections and has previously served as assistant chief psychologist for the City of Atlanta Psychological Services and Employee Assistance Unit. D'Agostino holds an undergraduate degree from Agnes Scott College and advanced degrees from Georgia State University. She is married to Robert and has three children.
Michael Altman, 45, Roswell, GA - Altman is a financial advisor with American Express and has previously served as CEO/CFO of MGN Technology/Leading Advantage. He also serves on the board of directors of Flying Doctors of America and the Chayil-Battered Women's Shelter program. He holds an undergraduate degree from Alma College and an MBA from Miami University. Altman is married to Nina and has three children.

Mary Burns, 40, Atlanta, GA (5th Congressional District) - Burns has served as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Emory University School of Medicine, clinical staff psychiatrist at Emory University's clinic and hospital, and is currently in private practice. She received her undergraduate degree from University of the South and her M.D. from Mercer University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in psychiatry at Duke University and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychology at Harvard University. Burns is married to Eric and has two children.
Monica Walters, 57, Barnesville, GA (8th Congressional District) - Walters currently serves as Library Media Director for the Lamar County High School and is a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. Walters received her M.S. and Ed.S. degrees from Georgia College and State University and her undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University. She is married to John and has two children.
Elizabeth "Beth" Martin, 36, Columbus, GA (11th Congressional District) - Martin currently serves on the board of directors of Evergreen Health Plan, L.L.C., is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia. Martin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. She and husband Colin have two children.
Board of Juvenile Justice
J. Daniel Shuman, 64, Reidsville, GA (3rd Congressional District) - Shuman currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Tattnall County Board of Commissioners, and previously served as District Director for Community Programs for the Department of Juvenile Justice. Shuman holds an undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University and a M.Ed. from the University of Georgia. He is married to Eva and has two children.
Tommy Lee Burgess, Jr., 40, Augusta, GA (9th Congressional District) - Burgess currently serves as pastor of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and is a member of the Executive Board of General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia. Burgess received his undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University. He and his wife, Acquantina, have one child.
Mary Wilhite, 44, Canton, GA (7th Congressional District) - Wilhite currently serves as Director of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for the Faith Center for Community Development, Inc. and is a member of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce. She received her undergraduate degree from Howard University. Wilhite is married to Marvin.
Daniel Augustus Menefee, 44, Columbus, GA (8th Congressional District) - Menefee currently serves on the boards of the Boy Scouts of America, the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus and is chairman of Operation Drug Free Georgia. He owns and operates The Menefee Insurance Group. Menefee received his undergraduate from Ohio State University, is married to Erin and has one child.
William "Bill" McQueen, 72, Fairburn, GA (13th Congressional District) - McQueen currently serves as President and CEO of JEMS Strategic Connections, Inc. He has previously served as Director of Planning and Allocations for United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. McQueen holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Baltimore and advanced degrees from the University of Maryland's School of Social Work and The Union Institute. He is married to Ellen and has three children.

Patrick "Pat" Head, 57, Kennesaw, GA (District Attorney) - Head currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia and a member of the Advisory Board for the North Central Law Enforcement Academy. He received his undergraduate degree from Southern Technical Institute and his J.D. from the Woodrow Wilson College of Law. He is married to Beverly and has two children.
Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission
Janice "Jan" Paul, 51, Atlanta, GA (At-Large) - Paul is co-founder and Executive Vice President of iSquared Communications and has previously worked with Lanier Worldwide and Compugraphic, Inc. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. Paul is married to Russell and has five children.
Lowell Register, 67, Lizella, GA (At-Large) - Register is founder and operator of Register Communications, Inc. He has served as President, Treasurer and an executive committee member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. Register is married to Janice and has three children.
Stone Mountain Memorial Association
D. Mark Baxter, 50, Macon, GA (At-Large) - Baxter is a partner in the firm of Stone & Baxter, LLP, board attorney for Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia, and director for the Cannonball House and Museum. He previously served as Assistant Solicitor General for the State Court of Bibb County. He received his degrees from Mercer University. Baxter and his wife, Margaret, have three children.
