Governor Perdue Announces Appointments to State Boards and Commissions

Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following appointments to State Boards and Commissions:

Georgia Auctioneers Commission

Roy Dean Cates, 66, Tignall, GA, Auctioneer Seat - Cates, a Georgia licensed auctioneer, owns ABC Auction in Crawfordville, GA. He also serves as Pastor of the Fishing Creek Baptist Church. He and his wife, Loretta, have two children, Roy and Patty.

State Children's Trust Fund Commission

Holly Bradford, 35, Atlanta, GA, 5th Congressional District - Bradford is owner/operator of Punkin Patch Infant & Children's Interiors. She earned an undergraduate degree in Furnishings and Interiors from the University of Georgia. Bradford and her husband, Reggie, have three children.

Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority

Robert E. Knox, Jr., 58, Thomson, GA, Municipal Seat (Reappointment) - Knox currently serves as Mayor of Thomson, Georgia. He also serves as a Director of the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Georgia Municipal Association and the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center's Services Advisory Council. Knox received his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from the University of Georgia. Knox and his wife, Dorothy, have three children.

James W. Andrews, 54, Sandersville, GA, Municipal Seat - Andrews currently serves as Mayor of Sandersville and has previously served as District Seven President for the Georgia Municipal Association. He is also an active member of the Sandersville Lions Club and Washington County Board of Health. Andrews and his wife, Sara, have two children.

State Forestry Commission

John Wesley Langdale, III, 33, Valdosta, GA, Landowner Seat - Langdale currently serves as Vice President of Land Management at The Langdale Company. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Forestry Association and Chairman of the Georgia Forestry Foundation. Langdale holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Kimberly, have two children.

Lake Lanier Islands Authority

Elizabeth P. Brock, 65, Atlanta, GA, At Large Seat - Brock has served as director of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Volunteer America, Vice President of the Georgia Industry Association and is Vice Chairman of the Governor's Health Strategies Council. She holds an undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University. Brock has one child.

Board of Public Safety

James "J.D." Dexter Rice, 45, Lowndes, GA, Firefighter Seat - Rice currently serves as Fire Chief of the City of Valdosta. In the past, he has served as a member of the Georgia Fire Chiefs Association, the International Fire Chiefs Association and is a member of the American Veterans Association, Post #607. Rice and his wife, Mechelle, have four children.

Stone Mountain Memorial Association

Will Arthur "Bill" Chappell, 68, Atlanta, GA, At Large Seat - Chappell currently serves as the Director of Governmental Affairs for Georgia Aerospace Manufacturing and is supervisor/unit manager for Atlanta Protective Associates. In the past, he has served as executive editor for the Atlanta Bulletin Newspaper, assistant to the President and Chairman of the Board of United Artists, and President of the Beverly Hills Hollywood Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Chappell attended the University of San Diego and holds an Associate Degree from the Los Angeles Metropolitan College of Business. He and his wife, Teresa, have one child.

State Board of Technical and Adult Education

Michael Christopher Daniel, 44, Athens, GA, At Large Seat - Daniel has served as President of the Federal Bar Association of the Middle District of Georgia, Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice and is a member of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He received his undergraduate degree from Mercer University and his J.D. from the University of Georgia's School of Law. Daniel and his wife, Echo, have two children.

Board of Governor's of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority

Nancy Nally Coverdell, 57, St. Simons Island, GA, At Large Seat - Coverdell is a member of the Board of the Atlanta Humane Society and the Southeastern Legal Foundation. Before retiring, Coverdell worked with Delta Air Lines for 33 years.
