Huckaby Announces Interim Director for the Construction Division of the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission

Atlanta - Chief Financial Officer Hank Huckaby today announced that Gena Lester Abraham has been appointed Interim Director of the Construction Division of the Georgia State Finance and Investment Commission (GSFIC).
"Gena's extensive understanding of construction management issues and her previous experience with the GSFIC will serve the people of Georgia well," said Huckaby. "I appreciate her dedication to public service and I look forward to her leadership. I also want to thank Lee Richey for coordinating the activities of the Construction Division for the past several months while the search for a director was in process." Mr. Richey will return to his duties at Kennesaw State University where he is Assistant Vice President for Facilities.
GSFIC provides comprehensive financial and construction related services to state agencies and local school systems to develop, preserve, protect and enhance Georgia's infrastructure. The Construction Division is responsible for disbursing all bond proceeds in accordance with legislative intent, developing the Statewide Construction Manual and providing comprehensive project management and facilities planning services to state agencies, departments and authorities.

Gena Lester Abraham, Ph.D., Civil Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, Sharpsburg, GA - Abraham joins the GSFIC from her current Assistant Professor position at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) where she is teaching undergraduate courses in the Department of Civil Engineering. Her previous experience in state government includes Chief Engineer for the Georgia Building Authority and Construction Manager for GSFIC. She has published several scholarly publications, and has written technical manuals dealing with Space Utilization and Rental Rates, Guidelines for Predesign of Major Capital Projects, Guidelines for Alternate Delivery Method Selection for Major Capital Projects, etc. Abraham is a member of the Georgia Association of State Facilities Administrators, National Association of State Facilities Administrators, American Society of Civil Engineers and the Building Owners and Managers Association.
