Atlanta - Governor-Elect Sonny Perdue today congratulated former United States President Jimmy Carter on becoming the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Peace. President Carter joins the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in becoming just the second Georgian to receive the prestigious award.
"I had the recent pleasure of personally congratulating President and Mrs. Carter on this great honor," said Perdue. "President Carter's dedication to principle-centered leadership is a fine example for all those in public service. All Georgians can be proud that the world has recognized the tremendous achievements of this native son."
