Governor Perdue Announces Staff Appointments

 

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following staff appointments for the Office of the Governor – Bert Brantley, press secretary;  Shane Hix, director of external affairs; Chad Holland, director of legislative affairs; Sydne Moody, legislative affairs liaison to the State House; Rebecca Greener, legislative affairs liaison to the State Senate; and Frances Gatewood, executive appointments liaison.    

Brief biographies are provided below:

Bert Brantley, McDonough, GA – Brantley has served as the communications manager for the Georgia Department of Economic Development since June 2005.  Prior to that appointment, Brantley completed six years in the communications office at the Georgia Department of Transportation, serving the last five as media relations coordinator.  A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Brantley earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in political science from the University of Georgia, as well as a master’s degree in public administration from UGA.  He and his wife, Tonya, have two children.

  Shane Hix, Atlanta, GA – Hix has served as Governor Perdue’s deputy press secretary since January 2003.  Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, he served in the public affairs office of the U.S. Department of Justice and the communications office of the Republican National Committee in Washington, DC.  A native of Snellville, Georgia, he earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Chad Holland, Atlanta, GA – Holland joins the Governor’s Office from the Perdue for a New Georgia campaign, where he served as the deputy political director.  Prior to joining Perdue for A New Georgia, he served as a special assistant with Brock Clay Government and Public Affairs where he oversaw coalition development and community and media relations.  Holland earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kennesaw State University.

Sydne Moody, Waycross, GA – Moody has served as a member of the Governor’s legislative affairs office since August 2005.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture communications with a minor in Spanish from the University of Georgia, where she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration. 

Rebecca Greener, Atlanta, GA – Greener joins the Governor’s Office from the Georgia Republican Party, where she served as the member relations director.  Raised in Arlington, Virginia, she attended the University of Georgia, earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in English. 

Frances Gatewood, Atlanta, GA – Gatewood joins the Governor’s Office from the Perdue for a New Georgia campaign, where she served as deputy finance director.  Before joining Perdue for a New Georgia, she served as an aide to State Representative Earl Ehrhart in the Rules Committee for the 2005 legislative session.  Raised in Americus, Georgia, she attended the University of Georgia, earning a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising.
