Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments
ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:
Board of Corrections
Robert “Buzz” W. Law, CFP, 45, Alpharetta, GA, 6th Congressional District Representative – Law is president and chief executive officer of Creative Financial Group, LTD. He is a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, the Christian Financial Professionals Network, the International Association of Financial Planners, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, the United Way Resource Development Committee and the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity Advisory Committee. He served on the board of directors of the University of Georgia Alumni Association and the advisory board for the Dekalb County School System’s Academy of Finance. Law earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Cathy, have four children.
Larry W. Wynn, 53, Dacula, GA, 10th Congressional District Representative – Wynn is the senior pastor at Hebron Baptist Church. He serves as chaplain for Gwinnett County Police & Fire Departments, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Department of Homeland Security. Wynn earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University. He and his wife, Ethel, have three children.
Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
Catherine “Cathy” M. O’Neil, J.D., 42, Dunwoody, GA, Criminal Justice Representative – O’Neil is an attorney and a partner at King & Spalding. She served as an associate deputy attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice and as an assistant U. S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. She is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers and the Council on Alcohol and Drugs. O’Neil earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree from the Kennedy School of Government and a law degree from Harvard University. She and her husband, David Nahmias, have two children.
Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council
H. Randy Camp, 47, Ringgold, GA, Fire Chief Representative – Camp serves as fire chief of Walker County. He is a member of the Georgia State Firefighters Association, the Georgia State Fire Chiefs Association, the International Association of Firefighters and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Camp served as chairman of the Fire Burns Safety Committee and secretary of the Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department board of directors. He earned an associate’s degree from Pikes Peak Community College and a bachelor’s degree through Kennedy-Western University. Camp completed the executive fire officer program through the U.S. Fire Administration. He and his wife, Alisa, have two children.
Kenneth “Ken” T. Steele, 66, Fayetteville, GA, Municipal Government Representative – Steele is mayor of Fayetteville and a retired pilot for Delta Air Lines. He served in the United States Navy for seven years and served several more years in the reserves. He serves on the board of directors, legislative policy council, budget committee and is the district vice president and task force chair for the Georgia Municipal Association. He is a member of the Livable Communities Coalition board, the Community Foundation of Fayette County and the board of directors of the Atlanta Regional Committee. Steele serves as secretary/treasurer of the executive committees of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board. Steele served as city councilman in Fayetteville. He earned a bachelor’s degree from West Chester State University. Steele and his wife, Debbie, have three grown children and six grandchildren.
B. Nishiyama “Nish” Willis, 50, Stockbridge, GA, Training Officer Representative – Willis is the deputy fire chief of operations for the Atlanta Fire-Rescue Department. She is the first female fire officer and first female chief in the department’s history. Willis is an adjunct faculty member at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md., an adjunct instructor at Dekalb Community College and a certified fire instructor at the Georgia State Fire Academy. She serves on the board of the Gold Shield Foundation. Willis earned a bachelor’s degree from Brenau University and is pursuing a master’s degree at Georgia State University. She is married to Bryan Willis and has one grown son and two grown stepsons.
