Governor Perdue Visits Georgia National Guard Troops in New Mexico
Participates in Border Flyover to Observe Troop Deployments
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Governor Sonny Perdue today visited Georgia National Guard troops serving along the U.S. border in New Mexico. Governor Perdue received an extensive briefing regarding border operations from the Georgia and New Mexico National Guards and the U.S. Border Patrol. He also participated in a flyover to view troop positions along the U.S.-Mexico border.
“I came to see if our Georgia National Guard troops were making a difference to the security of our nation and they are,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “I am extremely proud of the job they are doing here along the U.S. border. It is clear that Border Patrol and the citizens of New Mexico are glad we are here.”
Joining Governor Perdue on the trip were Georgia Homeland Security Director General Terry Nesbitt and David Ratcliffe, chairman of the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation.
