Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, Ga. – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Agricultural Education Advisory Commission
Hillary S. Stringfellow, 28, St. Simons Island, GA – Stringfellow is an associate at Gilbert, Harrell, Sumerford & Martin. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the University of Georgia Alumni Association and the Agriculture Alumni Association. She received a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Georgia. She is married to “Bud” Stringfellow.

S. Rachael McCall, 21, Athens, GA – McCall is a student at the University of Georgia majoring in agricultural economics and environmental law. She is an ambassador for the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and is a National Future Farmers of America alumni board representative. McCall served as the vice president for the Southern Region National FFA and is a member of the University of Georgia’s Agricultural Economics Club.

Vann Wooten, 45, Denton, GA – Wooten is the owner and operator of T.O.P. Farms. He is president-elect of the Georgia Young Farmer Association and serves on the board of directors for the Jeff Davis County Farm Bureau. He is an alumnus of the Georgia Agri-Leaders Forum and a member of the Georgia Cattle Association. Wooten is a graduate of Ben Hill Irwin Technical Institute. He and his wife, Tabatha, have two children.

Career and Technical Education Advisory Commission
Linda H. Harridge, 59, Eatonton, GA – Harridge is a substitute teacher for the Putnam County School System. She worked for the Houston County Board of Education for thirty years and served as the CVAE/DCT Coordinator for Houston County High School. She is a lifetime member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators and a member of the Red Hat Society in Eatonton. Harridge received a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southwestern and a master’s degree and specialist degree from Georgia College and State University. She and her husband, Ross, have two children and two grandchildren.

Joy C. Hawkins, 46, Atlanta, GA – Hawkins is the vice president of regional education for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. She served as the deputy chief operating officer for Governor Sonny Perdue. Hawkins is a member of the Georgia Child Support Commission, the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement’s Coordinating Board and the Metro Atlanta Corporate Volunteer Council. She serves as the business representative on the Georgia Effective School Staffing Task Force. Hawkins received a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from Georgia State University. She has two children.

Anthony O. Parker, Ph.D., 53, Dougherty, GA – Parker is the president of Albany Technical College. He is a member of the President’s Council for the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Southwest Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Albany Chamber of Commerce. He is president of Georgia Virtual Classroom, Inc., chair of the Southwest Georgia Consortium of Technical Colleges and chair of the Education Committee for the Albany Rotary Club. He serves on the board of directors for the National Vocational Honor Society and on the advisory committee for Merck & Company. He is a fundraiser for the South Carolina State Alumni Association, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Heart Association and the United Way of Southwest Georgia. Parker received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from South Carolina State University, an educational specialist degree from Augusta State University and a doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina. He and his wife, Sandra, have three children.
