Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.

Board of Economic Development

James R. “Ray” Fulford, 63, Carrollton, GA, Eleventh Congressional District Member – Fulford is the founder and CEO of RA-LIN & Associates, a general construction company primarily involved in commercial, industrial and institutional construction. He serves as president of Linco Development Company and chairman of the board of Builders Station and Brad Cole Construction Company. Fulford received an associate’s degree from Southern Polytechnic Institute. He and his wife, Linda, have two children and five grandchildren.

Board of Human Resources

Murray A. Freedman, M.S., M.D., 64, Augusta, GA, Member – Freedman is a clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Georgia. Freedman also maintains a private practice. He served as president of the Georgia State OB-GYN Society and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, Sandra, have two children.

Department of Natural Resources

Loyce W. Turner, 78, Valdosta, GA, First Congressional District Member (RE-APPOINTMENT) – Turner, a retired veterinarian, served as a Georgia state senator for twenty-three years. He is currently an emeritus director of First State Bank and Trust Company of Valdosta and Synovus Financial Corporation. He is a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau, the Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce and is an honorary Rotarian. Turner received a degree in veterinary medicine from Auburn University and graduated from the University of Georgia School of Banking. He survives his wife, Annette, and has three children and five grandchildren.

Robert J. “Bob” Rutland, 64, Covington, GA, Thirteenth Congressional District Member (RE-APPOINTMENT) – Rutland is the chairman of the board of Allied Holdings, Inc. and president of Greyland Real Estate Investments, Inc. He serves as a member of the Decatur Rotary Club, the Newton County Community Foundation and the Board of Governors for the Southern Institute for Ethics. Rutland attended Clemson University. He and his wife, Cherry, have three children.

William C. “Bill” Archer, III, 58, Rabun County, GA, At-Large Member – Archer retired from Georgia Power in March 2006 after thirty-five years of service. He held a variety of positions in marketing, government affairs, region operations and human resources. He serves on the board of the University of Georgia Athletic Association and is immediate past chairman of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. He is a board member of the CreekSide Bank in Woodstock and the Bank of Ellijay. Archer received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and attended the Stanford Executive Program. He and his wife, Andrea, have three children and six grandchildren.

Sally S. Bethea, 55, Atlanta, GA, At-Large Member (RE-APPOINTMENT) – Bethea is the executive director of Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and is on the board of River Network and the Ansley Park Civic Association. She has been voted one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians three times by Georgia Trend Magazine. Bethea received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has two children.

Board of Governors of the George L. Smith II Georgia World Congress Center Authority

Lee C. Hunter, 33, Atlanta, GA, Member – Hunter is the owner of Midtown Vending, LLC. He is a board member for the Georgia Amusement and Music Operators Association and is a member of the Southern Nursery Association. Hunter received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Shay, have two children.

William H. “Bill” Linginfelter, 49, Atlanta, GA, Member – Linginfelter is the CEO of Georgia Banking/Wachovia Bank. He is as a board member for the Georgia Research Alliance, the Georgia Conservancy, Central Atlanta Progress and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He is the chairman-elect for the Metro Atlanta Chamber and campaign chair-elect for the United Way for Metro Atlanta. Linginfelter received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, attended the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University and completed the Commercial Lending Program at the University of Virginia. Linginfelter and his wife, Mitzi, have two children.

Georgia Board for Physician Workforce

Thomas L. Hatchett, Jr., M.D., 42, Demorest, GA, Primary Care Physician – Hatchett is an OB/GYN at Habersham OB/GYN Associates. He is president of the Georgia OB/GYN Society and is a member of the Hospital Authority of Habersham County. Hatchett received a bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, Lenora, have six children.
