Governor Perdue Hosts Georgia's First Customer Service Summit
Governor Appoints Joe Doyle to Lead New Office of Customer Service
ATLANTA – Today Governor Sonny Perdue delivered closing remarks to the first ever Customer Service Summit for Georgia state government leaders, held at the Terry Business School Conference Center in Atlanta . Yesterday at the opening of the summit, Governor Perdue signed an Executive Order creating the new Office of Customer Service, appointing Joe Doyle as the director. Doyle's responsibilities will be in addition to his current chairmanship of the Commission for a New Georgia Task Force on Customer Service, and agency head responsibilities as the director of the Office of Consumer Affairs.
“I want Georgia state government to view each person who walks through our door as an opportunity,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “ Georgia customers are empowered with high expectations of their interactions with state government, and I intend to meet and exceed the high expectations.”
Georgia's first Customer Service Summit included agency heads and deputies from 39 state agencies, and focused on the theme “Fast, Friendly and Easy,” emphasizing Governor Perdue's plan for the future of state government customer service. Among its recommended change initiatives, the Commission for a New Georgia Task Force on Customer Service recommended easier access to government services, faster processes so customers can get business done quickly and friendlier service in a customer-oriented culture. Today as Governor Perdue closed the summit, he challenged agency heads to return to their offices to instill a culture of customer service throughout their departments.
