Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments
ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.
Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
W. Mansfield Jennings, Jr., 71, Hawkinsville, GA, First Congressional District Representative ( REAPPOINTMENT ) - Jennings is chairman and CEO of ComSouth Corporation, president and CEO of ComSouth Telecommunications, Inc., and chairman of SunMark Community Bank. He is past chairman of ComSouth Telecable, Inc. and Taylor Regional Hospital . Jennings is a past president and director of the Georgia Telephone Association, past president and charter director of the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Hawkinsville Rotary Club. He received his bachelor's degree in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master's degree from Emory University . Jennings and his wife, Gennelle, have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Benjamin “Ben” J. Tarbutton, III, 33, Sandersville, GA, Third Congressional District Representative - Tarbutton is assistant vice president of Sandersville Railroad Company, responsible for overseeing daily operations, including maintaining infrastructure, train transportation, and customer service. He serves on the board of directors for Sandersville Technical College , the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation. Tarbutton is a member of the Georgia Rural Development Council, a past chairman of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Sandersville Rotary Club . Tarbutton is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Georgia and a graduate of Leadership Washington County . He earned a bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Tarbutton and his wife, Betsy, have two children.
Robert “Bob” F. Hatcher, 64, Macon , GA , Eighth Congressional District Representative – Hatcher is president and CEO of MidCountry Financial Corporation. He is the Georgia chairman of the advisory board for Branch Banking and Trust and co-chairman of the Commission for a New Georgia. Hatcher serves as a board member on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and NewTown Macon. He received the 2005 University of Georgia Terry College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award and is an honorary lifetime member of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia . Hatcher and his wife, Georgia, have one grown son and two grandchildren.
A. Felton Jenkins, Jr., 64, Madison , GA , At Large Representative - Jenkins retired as a partner with the law firm of King & Spalding in 1992. He serves as president of the Morgan County Foundation, president of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Cancer Society and member of the Morgan County Planning and Zoning Commission. Jenkins has served on the Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority since 1997. He earned a bachelor's degree and a law degree from the University of Georgia . Jenkins and his wife, Julie, have three grown children and two grandchildren.
