New TRACO Plant Brings 300 Jobs to Bainbridge

Manufacturer of Hurricane-resistant Doors and Windows to Build Facility Valued at $10 Million

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that TRACO, a leading manufacturer of window and door systems whose products have been used on the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, will construct a facility in Bainbridge, creating approximately 300 new jobs within the next three years.

“Georgia’s rich business resources are very attractive to companies that are leaders in their field,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “The talented workforce in South Georgia will benefit from the jobs generated by TRACO for many years to come.”

TRACO plans to expand a partially-constructed spec building in the Decatur County Industrial Park into an 180,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The company anticipates operations will begin during the first quarter of 2007. The new facility will augment TRACO’s current capability to produce impact resistant window and door systems for its retail and residential markets.

“Strategically, Bainbridge is an ideal location to service coastal markets, where our products are in demand,” said Robert P. Randall, president & CEO of TRACO. “The area has a great workforce and great quality of life. We’re looking forward to becoming an important part of the community.”

“Locating TRACO to Bainbridge has truly been a comprehensive effort,” said Dr. Jon McRae, chairman of the Development Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County. “We’ve had invaluable assistance from the state, Georgia Power, city and county officials, the board of education, chamber of commerce and local businesses and individuals. “TRACO will be a great neighbor and an integral part of the community, and we’re delighted they have chosen to locate here in Decatur County.”

TRACO’s impact window and door systems are specifically designed to meet strict building codes and coastal weather challenges, including hurricane force wind loads. The company, which markets its products internationally, also manufactures custom-designed architectural, heavy commercial, commercial and residential rated windows, doors, storefront, entrances and blast products. TRACO, established in 1943 by Mae and E.R. Randall, has five other manufacturing operations in Penn., Tenn., Fla. and Iowa. For more information please visit www.traco.com.
