Douglas Appointed Department of Administrative Services Commissioner

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Brad Douglas as commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS). Douglas has served as the assistant commissioner since October 2005. He replaces Dana Russell who is now serving as executive vice president of finance at the Georgia Student Finance Commission.

“Brad Douglas brings a wealth of financial and procurement experience to this position,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “Under his leadership, I look forward to DOAS saving more taxpayer money by further streamlining the many business functions of state government.”

Douglas, 42, has more than 18 years of business executive experience in strategic partnerships, retailing, e-commerce, procurement, sales, marketing, field service and finance. Prior to joining DOAS, Douglas held financial, procurement and administrative positions with Choice Hotels International, Interim Services (now Spherion), Royal Caribbean International and A.T. Hudson & Company. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and master’s degree in business from Georgia State University.

DOAS is the business solutions provider for state government. DOAS' primary responsibility is procurement services. Its other responsibilities include risk management, fleet management, document services, surplus property, supply services, and the Governor's Small Business Center. The agency’s goal is to generate $135 million in annual savings by 2009 as identified by the Governor’s Commission for a New Georgia.
