Pittsburgh sporting goods company to add 484 jobs, invest $23 million in facility

EAST POINT, Ga. – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that Dick’s Sporting Goods is locating a new distribution center in East Point, representing an investment of $23 million. At full operating capacity, the company anticipates the center will employ up to 484 workers.

Dick’s new distribution center, which will serve the southeastern U.S., will be located in a 657,200-square-foot space at Duke Realty Corporation’s Camp Creek Business Center in East Point.

"Dick's Sporting Goods is the type of well-known, respected industry leader that we welcome in Georgia," said Governor Perdue. "To have such a strong retailer locate a distribution center in East Point shows that our state has what the logistics industry is looking for: great infrastructure and a well-trained workforce."

“We evaluated numerous sites throughout the region, and Camp Creek provided the most efficient distribution point for our expanding Southeastern operations,” said Lee Belitsky, senior vice president of distribution and transportation for Dick’s Sporting Goods. “We look forward to becoming a valued corporate citizen in East Point and the metro Atlanta community.”

Numerous agencies and corporations collaborated to assist on this project, including the Georgia Ports Authority, Quick Start, Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Georgia Power, MEAG Power, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Development Authority of Fulton County, City of East Point, Duke Realty Corporation and The Staubach Company. Mary Z. Douglass and Kevin Phillips were project managers for the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

“We’re pleased to welcome Dick’s Sporting Goods, one of America’s finest and fastest growing retailers, to East Point and South Fulton County,” said Joseph L. Macon, mayor of East Point. “Dick’s economic impact furthers the area’s revitalization and will benefit nearby retail and other businesses.”
