ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement regarding today's tax settlement with MCI where Georgia will receive approximately $39.7 million on a claim of approximately $43 million in unpaid taxes (not including interest and penalties):
“I appreciate the vigilance of Revenue Commissioner Bart Graham in actively pursuing this settlement with MCI. His leadership, and the efforts of the Department of Law, led directly to today's agreement. This settlement demonstrates the state's commitment to enforcing our tax laws and standing firm for the money owed the people of Georgia .”
