Patrick Moore Appointed Deputy Chief Operating Officer

Joy Hawkins Joins Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Patrick Moore as Deputy Chief Operating Officer.  Moore replaces Joy Hawkins who is assuming a position with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

“Patrick Moore has proven himself to be an effective leader and problem solver,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.  “In his new position, he will use these qualities to help improve the operation of state government across the board.”

Moore will work closely with Chief Operating Officer Jim Lientz to create a customer friendly, people-oriented state government through the management and supervision of state departments, agencies and their respective boards and commissions.

“Joy Hawkins has been an integral part of my effort to transform state government to better serve the citizens of Georgia ,” said Governor Perdue.  “She will be missed, but I wish her the very best in her new role with Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.”         

A brief biography of Patrick Moore is provided below:

Patrick Moore, 31, Atlanta , GA – Moore has served as deputy chief of staff in the Governor's Office since January 2004.  Previously, he served as special assistant to the director of the Office of Planning and Budget and as director of executive appointments in the Office of the Governor.  Prior to joining the Perdue Administration, Moore served as political director for Chambliss for Senate in 2002.  Moore also spent three years working for Senator Paul Coverdell in Washington D.C. where he served as deputy legislative director and legislative assistant.  He is a native of Jasper , Georgia .  Moore received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and earned a master's degree in business administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia .  He is married to Kristan Moore.
