ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the selection of Corlis Cummings as the Interim Chancellor of the University System of Georgia:
“With 34 colleges and universities educating thousands of students across the state, Georgia 's higher education system is one of the best in the nation. It is important that we have strong leadership in place to lead this system. The Board of Regents should be commended in its selection of Corlis Cummings as Interim Chancellor. I look forward to working with her and the board to improve the quality of our education system and increase educational opportunities for all of our citizens.”
