ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue today issued a writ of special election for State Senate District 22. The special election to fill the temporary vacancy in District 22 will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2005. Text of the writ is provided below:
Writ of Special Election
The official elected to represent District 22 of the Georgia Senate has been suspended pursuant to Article II, Section III, Paragraph II of the Constitution of the State of Georgia .
Therefore, pursuant to Article II, Section III, Paragraph II of the Constitution and Section 21-2-544 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, a writ of election is hereby issued to the Secretary of State for a special election to be held on September 20, 2005, to fill the temporary vacancy in District 22 of the Georgia Senate.
