ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding President Bush’s nominees to the Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC):
“I look forward to a fair and impartial evaluation of military bases across the nation by the President’s nominees to the BRAC Commission.”
“Georgia has a strong tradition of supporting its armed forces. Our military bases are home to more than 130,000 military and civilian workers, all of whom are a part of Georgia’s family. This entire community and our members of Congress have made tremendous progress in preparing for this evaluation. I am confident that Georgia will be competitive during this process.”
