Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Economic Development

Charles K. Tarbutton, 38, Sandersville, GA, Third Congressional District Representative - Tarbutton is the assistant vice president of the Sandersville Railroad Company. He serves as chairman of the board of directors of Sandersville Technical College, trustee and current treasurer of Brentwood School and chairman of the Finance Committee of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Tarbutton is past chairman of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and is currently a member of the Georgia College and State University Foundation Board and the Georgia Public Policy Foundation Board. He serves as vice chair for Economic Development for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Tarbutton is a past chairman of the Board of Leadership Georgia. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Emory University School of Business. Tarbutton and his wife, Helen, have three children.

Board of Human Resources

Henry Murriel Patton, M.D., 52, Covington, GA, Thirteenth Congressional District - Patton is the attending physician for Newton General Hospital, consulting physician for Rockdale County Hospital, assistant clinical professor of medicine of the Primary Care Preceptorship Program for the Medical College of Georgia and an instructor of advanced cardiac life support for the American Heart Association. He is a member of the East-Metro Medical Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Southern Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and is chairman of the Newton County Board of Health. Patton also serves as a volunteer physician for Newton County Schools and is chairman of the membership committee for the Georgia Chapter American College of Physicians. He was awarded the Community Service Award for Outstanding Leadership from the East-Metro Medical Society in 2001. Patton earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in Athens and his master’s and doctorate from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He and his wife, Victoria, have four children.

Board of Juvenile Justice

Michael Lee Baugh, 46, Thomasville, GA, At Large Member - Baugh is a sales representative and internet manager for Roy Campbell Chevrolet. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a law enforcement specialist. Baugh is also active in the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce. He received his bachelor’s degree from Columbus State University. Baugh and his wife, Michele, have two children. The Baugh family recently moved from Brooks County to Thomas County.

Board of Natural Resources

Mabel Clarke Jenkins, 63, Millen, GA, Twelfth Congressional District Representative -Jenkins owns Hanging Rocks Plantation in Millen, Georgia and manages Cherokee Rose Sporting Resort in Griffin, Georgia. She was previously president and co-owner of the John C. Wilson Company, Inc. During her employment at Wilson Company, Jenkins served as the director, vice president and president of Southern Peanut Warehousemen’s Association and director of Georgia Plant Food Association. She has also served on the advisory board of Columbia Nitrogen and was a member of the Georgia, Southeastern and National Feed and Grain Associations. Jenkins and her husband, Robert, have one son and four grandchildren.

Georgia Superior Court Clerk's Cooperative Authority

Dave Sanford Wills, Jr., 44, Preston, GA, County Commissioner Representative - Wills has been a self-employed farmer for over 20 years. He currently serves as chairman of the Webster County Commission. Wills is a member of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia Board of Managers, the Middle Flint Regional Development Center Board of Directors and is a supervisor for the Lower Chattahoochee Soil and Water Conservation District. He is a member of the 2003-2004 class of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership, taught by UGA's Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Wills earned his bachelor’s of science degree from Georgia Southwestern State University. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two children.

State Forestry Commission

Robert William Pollard, Jr., 54, Appling, GA, Manufacturer Representative - Pollard is the president of Pollard Lumber Co., Inc. He serves as the chairman of the board of the Georgia Bank Financial Corporation and of Lexicor , and on the board of trustees of Westminster Schools of Augusta. Pollard has served on the board of directors of the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association and Georgia Forestry Association. He has served as the chairman of the Southern Timber Council and on the UGA Warnell School of Forest Resources Alumni Steering Committee. He is a member and deacon of the Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling. Pollard received his bachelor’s of science degree in forest resources from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Tricia, have three children.

Stone Mountain Memorial Association

Joan Bostick Thomas, 55, Monroe, GA, At Large Member - Thomas owns and manages Rental Real Estate in Monroe. She is a sustainer member of the Monroe Junior Service League, and past chairman of several League committees. Thomas is also a board member of the Walton County Music Guild, Inc., a trustee of the George Walton Academy Board of Trustees, and secretary of the Monroe FUMC Preschool Board. She served on the Citizens Review Foster Care Panel for the Juvenile Court. Thomas and her husband, Kenneth, have one son.
