ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today after the State Senate gave final approval to his master teacher legislation:
“I appreciate the House and Senate for their bipartisan support of my master teacher legislation. This program will improve the quality of education across our state by recognizing our all-star teachers and letting them serve as coaches and mentors to their peers. I’m also very pleased that through this legislation, the state will provide liability insurance for our teachers to help protect them from frivolous lawsuits.”
The House unanimously approved the bill yesterday by a vote of 169-0. The House version of the bill added two amendments to the Senate version that unanimously passed on January 28. The bill now awaits the signature of the Governor.
