ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:
Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority
Matt Beasley, 38, Hartwell, Georgia, Municipal Representative— Beasley is Mayor of Hartwell. He began his career as a teacher and served as a member of the Hartwell City Council. Beasley is a recipient of the Boy Scouts’ Eagle Award and the God and Country award. He is a member and past chairman of the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center and a member of Emmanuel College’s Area Advisory Board. He also serves on the Georgia Municipal Association as an officer of the 2nd District and a member of the Legislative Policy Board. Beasley received Wal-Mart’s Small Town Leadership Award and was chosen for Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Forty Under Forty” in 2003. He received an associate's degree from Young Harris College, and currently serves on the Young Harris Alumni Board. Beasley received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in education from Clemson University and a specialist degree in education from UGA's Social Science Education Department. He and his wife, April, have one child.
Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board
Charles Bramlett, 62, Monticello, Georgia, Appraiser Representative— Bramlett is owner and operator of Bramlett Realty and Bramlett School of Real Estate. He is also chair of the National Association of Master Appraisers (NAMA) USPAP Review Committee and has served as a member of the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board since 1998. Bramlett is a certified general real estate appraiser and a certified instructor for the Uniformed Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. He has served as president of the Association of Master Appraisers at both the national and state levels, and was appointed to The Appraisal Foundation Advisory Counsel. Bramlett and his wife, Linda, have two children.
Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board
Kathryn “Kit” Long Dunlap, 63, Gainesville, Georgia, REAPPOINTMENT— Dunlap is president and CEO of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. Dunlap was a founding member of the Gainesville/Hall County Economic Development Council in 1992 and served as the council’s first chairman. She serves on the advisory board of the Brenau University Arts Program, the board of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and the board of Georgians for Manufacturing. She also serves on the boards of Main Street-Gainesville, the German American Chamber of Commerce/South, and SunTrust Bank/Northeast Georgia. Dunlap is a member of the Metro Atlanta Quality Growth Task Force. She served on the Georgia Board of Industry, Trade and Tourism for ten years, and was chosen by Georgia Trend magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians in January 2005. She received her undergraduate degree in English from Brenau College. Dunlap has two children.
State Board of Registration for Used Car Dealers and Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers
H. Kenneth Cronan, 47, Clermont, Georgia, Salvage Pool Operator Representative— Cronan is president and owner of Gainesville Salvage Disposal. He was previously employed by the Georgia Department of Education, Duplicating Products, and Xerox Corporation. Cronan serves on the board of the National Cutting Horse Association. He received his associate’s degree from Southern Tech. Cronan and his wife, Angela, have two children.
State Forestry Commission
James Lester Gillis, Jr., 88, Soperton, Georgia, REAPPOINTMENT— Gillis is president of Soperton Naval Stores, Inc. and president of the Bank of Soperton. He is chairman of the Ohoopee River Soil Conservation District and the Georgia Forestry Commission. Gillis is past president of the Georgia Forestry Association, past president of the American Turpentine Farmers Association and served as the first president of the Georgia Beef Cattle Improvement Association. He is also past president of both the Georgia Bankers Association and the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia. Gillis has served as an honorary member of the Society of American Foresters and the Soil Conservation Society of America, and as a member of the Georgia Agribusiness Council. He has held various political offices, including Mayor of Soperton and Truetlen County Commissioner. He received his undergraduate degree in forestry from the University of Georgia. Gillis and his wife, Augusta, have three children.
