Statewide Holocaust Art and Writing Contest Announced

Georgia Program Enters 10th Year
KENNESAW, GA – The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust announced today that they will be holding their acclaimed statewide art and writing contest for a 10th year. “What Are the Lessons of the Holocaust?” will be conducted in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education.
“The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust art and writing contest helps in teaching the lessons our society has learned about the dangers of hate and discrimination,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “I thank the Commission for their diligence in promoting the importance of moral courage and for their good work in facilitating this program.”
Middle and high school students in the State of Georgia submit artwork and writing about the Holocaust. Every school is permitted to send three entries in each of the two categories to the state contest. All art and writing entries must be postmarked no later than March 21, 2005 and sent to:

Winning students and their teachers will be presented awards at the Georgia Capitol during the Official State Observance of the Days of Remembrance program on May 6, 2005.
