Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.

State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology

Susan Daughtry, 43, Kathleen, Pathologist Member– Daughtry is president of Speech and Language Associates, Inc.  She has served as a speech-language pathologist in the Houston and Sumter counties school systems.  She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Daughtry earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Auburn University.  She and her husband, Bob, have three children.

Denise Riddle Sheppard, 44, Cohutta, Audiologist Member– Sheppard is the director of audiology services at the Northwest Georgia Hearing Center.  She was an audiologist at the Mobile Ear, Nose and Throat Center and the Southwest Alabama Regional School for the Deaf and Blind.  She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Academy of Audiology.  Sheppard earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and is currently working on a doctorial degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.  She and her husband, Joe, have two children.

Terri A. Williams, 54, Sandersville, Public Member – Williams is the due process facilitator for the Washington County Board of Education, where she has served since 1994.  Previously, she taught at T.J. Elder Primary School in Washington County.  She is a member of the Georgia Council Administrators of Special Education and the Council for Exceptional Children.  Williams earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Georgia College.  She and her husband, James, have two grown children and five grandchildren.

Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission

Kipling "Kip" Sherrill Mercer, 59, Monroe, 7th Congressional District Representative – Mercer is the president and chief executive officer of MERMC, Inc. and 4M Management, Inc.  He is a past board member of the Walton Country Red Cross, the Walton County Hospital Foundation, and the Walton County Boys and Girls Club.  He is a member of the Board of Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities.  He is currently chairman of the McDonald's Atlanta Region Operators Association and a former chairman of the McDonald's Atlanta Region Leadership Council.  Mercer attended Southeastern University and Wingate College. He and his wife, June, have two grown children and two grandchildren.

Patrick N. Millsaps, 33, Camilla, GA, 2nd Congressional District Representative – Millsaps is a lawyer with the Millsaps Law Firm. He serves on the on the Programs Committee, the Communications Committee, and the Advertising Task Force of the State Bar of Georgia and is a district representative of the Young Lawyers Division.  He is the chairman-elect of the Georgia Area Council for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the 1st vice chairman of the Camilla Chamber of Commerce, program chairman of the Camilla Rotary Club and past president of the Mitchell County Bar Association.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Samford University and a law degree from the University of Georgia. Millsaps and his wife, Elizabeth, have three children.

State Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Dispensers

Kadyn O. Williams, 54, Sandy Springs, Audiologist Member– Williams is the co-owner/co-director of Audiological Consultants of Atlanta.  She is also an adjunct faculty member at Pennsylvania College of Optometry and a member of the American Academy of Audiology.  She earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in education from the University of Georgia, as well as receiving an advanced degree in audiology at the University of Florida.  She and her husband, Gregory, have two children.

Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies

Patricia Barrow Mincey, 45, Savannah, Private Detective/ Security Agency Member – Mincey is the owner and lead investigator of Executive Strategies and a contract investigator with US Investigations. She served as a corporate fraud manager for Food Lion Stores, a division of Delhaize Corporation, and a loss prevention manager for Kmart Corporation. She is a member of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services, the International Graphoanalysis Society, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators Board of Directors.  Mincey has attended the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, and Armstrong Atlantic State University. She and her husband, Ron, have one grown daughter.

Board of Juvenile Justice

Larry Ford Barnes, 59, Douglasville, 13th Congressional District Representative – Barnes retired as an administrator in the Douglas County school system.  He also taught in the Fulton County school system.  He is a member of the Douglas County Board of Education, the Georgia Retired Teachers Association and the Leadership Douglas Board of Directors.  Barnes earned a bachelor's degree from Berry College and a master's degree from the State University of West Georgia.  He and his wife, Tracey, have two grown children and two grandchildren.

State Board of Pharmacy

D. Steven Wilson, 54, Smyrna, Pharmacist Member – Wilson is the owner of Carter's Pharmacy in Smyrna, GA.  He is a member and past president of the Georgia Pharmacy Association, a member and past president of the Smyrna Optimist Club and an adjunct associate professor at Mercer University.  Wilson earned an associate's degree from Kennesaw College and a bachelor's in pharmacy, doctoral degree in pharmacy and master's of business administration from Mercer University.  He and his wife, Karen, have two children.

Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority

Charlotte Nash, 54, Dacula – Nash is currently a partner in NASHILL, Inc., a governmental and public affairs consulting firm that provides services to local governments and to firms that work with governments. Nash is a member of the Rotary Club of Gwinnett, the Gwinnett County Recreation Authority, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, United Way Women's Legacy, Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation, Leadership Gwinnett and the Regional Atlanta Civic League.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Republic Bank of Georgia. Nash was the recipient of the inaugural Public Service Award for county appointed official by Georgia Trend Magazine and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.   Nash received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia.  She and her husband, Michael, have two children and four grandchildren.
