Nation's top-ranking wireless carrier to build new customer service center

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Governor Sonny Perdue and company officials announced at a press conference today that T-Mobile USA Inc., the nation's highest-ranking national wireless carrier for customer care, will establish a new customer service center in Augusta. The new location will create more than 750 jobs.

"I am very pleased that T-Mobile has chosen Augusta for this project," said Governor Sonny Perdue. "Georgia shares T-Mobile's commitment to customer service, and we're proud that our citizens will provide the highest level of courteous, efficient customer support in the country."

T-Mobile was recently recognized by Business Week magazine as one of the top 25 service companies in the U.S. In addition, J.D. Power & Associates consistently ranks the company as a leader in wireless customer care.

"Our customer service employees play a vital role in our company's success," said John Birrer, group vice president of customer service for T-Mobile USA. "The service mentality of Augusta is a perfect match with T-Mobile's values, as we help our customers stay connected to those who matter most to them every day."

The more than 78,000-square-foot facility will be located on Wheeler Road in Augusta. The center will include state-of-the-art customer service technology, telecommunications tools and employee amenities. T-Mobile will begin hiring this spring and the center will begin operations in fall 2007. The company chose to locate the operation in Georgia after a multi-state search.

"I know that I can speak for the entire city in stating that we are proud to call T-Mobile our newest corporate citizen," said Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver. "With their innovative approach to business, their focus on their employees and their sound reputation in the industry, T-Mobile is a perfect fit for the Augusta marketplace. As Augusta's economy continues to expand, we look forward to T-Mobile growing with us."

"For more than a year, our staff at the development authority worked with the fine people of T-Mobile and The Staubach Company to bring this facility to Augusta," said Loren Perry, chairman of the Development Authority of Richmond County. "Our executive director, Walt Sprouse, toured a beautiful T-Mobile customer service facility in Boise, Idaho and was very impressed with the T-Mobile employee commitment. We are glad to welcome T-Mobile to Augusta's corporate community."

Based in Bellevue, Wash., T-Mobile USA, Inc. is a member of the T-Mobile International group, one of the world's leading companies in mobile communications, and the mobile telecommunications subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG. T-Mobile is the second international corporation in recent months to announce a major location in Augusta.

In October 2006, global business solutions provider Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP) revealed plans to locate a business solutions center in Augusta, investing over $30 million and creating 1,000 jobs.
