ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.

 

Board of Community Affairs

John G. McColskey, 41, Atlanta, 4th Congressional District Representative – McColskey is a principal of Homrich & Berg, Inc.  He serves as a member of the board of directors of The Alliance Theatre Company and The Theatre of the Stars.  He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization and the Rotary Club of Atlanta.  McColskey earned a bachelor's degree from High Point University.  McColskey and his wife, Lauren, have two children.

 

State Board of Education

Mary Sue Polleys, Ph.D., 63, Columbus, 3rd Congressional District Representative – Polleys is a former assistant professor of leadership and the director of the Servant Leadership Program at Columbus State University. She served as chair of the Muscogee County School Board. She led community service programs for Columbus State University students including work with Habitat for Humanity and the Callaway Gardens Student Leadership Conference.  She earned a bachelor's degree from Mercer University, a master's degree and a Ph.D. from Auburn University.  Polleys and her husband, Hardy, have one son.

Consumer Advisory Board

Ernest Lelon "Lee" Pickard, Jr., 46, Fort Valley, 2nd Congressional District Representative – Pickard is the general manager and owner of Mid State RV Center. He is a general aviation pilot.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Southern Polytechnic State University.  Pickard and his wife, Tina, have one daughter.

 

Perry Mitchell "Mitch" Everett, 46, Atlanta, 5th Congressional District Representative – Everett is the vice-president and compliance officer of Atlantic Capital Bank.  He served as a board member of Leadership Albany Inc., Albany State College Inner-City Community Development Corporation, Liberty House.  He is a co-founder of Albany Tomorrow, Inc. and the R.E.A.C.H. Council.  He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Valdosta State University.  Everett is a graduate of Louisiana State University's School of Banking.

 

Michael P. Royal, 34, Lawrenceville, 7th Congressional District Representative – Royal is a certified insurance counselor at Bryant Wharton Thompson Risk Advisors working primarily in risk management and commercial insurance.  He serves as vice-chairman of the Gwinnett County Zoning Board of Appeals and is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia, the Professional Insurance Agents of Georgia and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University.  Royal and his wife, Lori, have three daughters.

 

James "Jim" E. Kay, D.V.M, 62, Douglasville, 13th Congressional District Representative – Kay is a veterinarian at Kay Animal Hospital.  He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.  He served as the vice-president of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce and the president of the Kiwanis Club and the American Heart Association in Douglas County.  Kay earned a bachelor's degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia.

 

Veterans Service Board

R. Ray Hendrix, 75, Statesboro (Reappointment) – Hendrix is a retired sergeant major from the United States Army National Guard, where he served for forty-two years. Hendrix served as department commander for the American Legion and has been a member for over fifty years. He is serving his fourth term as the National Executive Committeeman for his American Legion Post. Hendrix and his wife, Mary, have three children, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

 

Rural Development Council

Robert W. Hurst, Jr., 40, Douglas – Hurst is the president of Hurst and Hurst, CPA, LLC and Hurst Financial Advisors, PC. He is a member of the Coffee Regional Medical Center Hospital Board. He was a member of the Legislative Committee and Ethics Committee of Georgia Society of CPAs and the Coffee Regional Medical Center For-Profit Venture Board. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Georgia. Hurst and his wife, Lorna, have four children.

 

Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission

Joseph "J.D." Frazier, 47, Marietta – Frazier is president and chief executive officer of Para/Quad Services, Inc.  He is the president of the Kennesaw State University Alumni Association.  He serves as parliamentarian for the Georgia Association of Community Care Providers and a peer supporter for the Shepherd Center.  He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Kennesaw State University.  Frazier and his wife, Julie, have one daughter.

 

GeorgiaHistorical Records Advisory Board

Paul S. Goggin, 38, Atlanta – Goggin is the chief technology officer and founder of THINK Interactive, Inc. He served as the director of technology at Answerthink and Think New and as the chief technology officer and founder of Interweb, Inc. in Atlanta. Goggin earned a bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

 

Rodney M. Cook, Jr., 50, Atlanta – Cook is president of the National Monuments Foundation. He is a founding trustee of the Prince of Wales Foundation for Architecture and a member of the board of directors of the Hearst Foundation, the Atlanta Landmarks, the Institute for Classical Architecture and the New York Philomusica.  He served as president of Public Broadcasting Atlanta. He earned a bachelor's degree from Washington and Lee University. Cook and his wife, Emily, have two children.

William "Bill" J. Butler, M.D., 52, Macon – Butler is professor and chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center of Central Georgia/Mercer University School of Medicine.  He is the director of the Central Georgia Fertility Institute and Georgia state representative to the South Atlantic Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the American Society of Human Genetics and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology.  He served as president of the Southeastern Reproductive Medicine Association, the board of directors for the Albany Chapter of RESOLVE and the board of directors of the Macon Symphony.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate of medicine from Albany Medical College. He and his wife, Tammara, have one daughter.

 

State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

E. Robin Bohannon, 58, Augusta – Bohannon is an audiologist at Augusta Hearing and Balance.  He is a member of the American Academy of Audiology, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Audiology Resource Association and the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists.  He serves as a member of Augusta's Exchange Club, Sertoma Club, the Symphony League, the Augusta Country Club and the Pinnacle Club.  He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Georgia and a doctorate of audiology degree from Pennsylvania College. Bohannon and his wife, Harriette, have two children.

 

Andrea Boswell, 51, Peachtree City – Boswell is a speech-language pathologist special needs preschool diagnostician for the Fulton County Board of Education.  She is a member of the American and Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She serves as a member on the Potters Council, American Craft Council, Georgia Clay Council and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.  She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and a master's degree from Georgia State University.  Boswell and her husband, Phil, have two children.

 

State Construction Industry Licensing Board

Kenneth M. Davis, 61, Grantville, Conditioned Air Contractor Representative(Reappointment) – Davis is a managing member of Keel Management Group LLC and Kenco Development Group LLC.  He is chairman of the conditioned air division of the State Construction Industry Licensing Board.  He was president of AllWeather Heating & A/C for twenty-nine years and started a HVAC school in Jonesboro.  He serves as a member of the Conditioned Air Association of Georgia.  He earned an associate's degree from Southern Technical Institute.  Davis and his wife, Ellen, have one son and two grandchildren. 

 

H. Grady Smith, III, 59, Augusta, Master Plumber Representative (Reappointment) – Smith is the president of Smith Bros. Mechanical Contractors, Inc.  He is chairman of the plumbing division of the State Construction Industry Licensing Board, a member of the board of trustees for Augusta State University and a member of the Augusta Golf Association. He served as president of the Augusta Exchange Club. He earned a bachelor's degree from Augusta State University.  Smith and his wife, Cathy, have two daughters and five grandchildren.

 

Georgia Board of Dentistry

Barry C. Stacey, D.M.D, 59, Marietta – Stacey is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at West Atlanta Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and served in the House of Delegates.  Stacey served as chairman of the OMSPAC Board.  He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.  He is a member of the Georgia Dental Association and was named honorable fellow in 2000.  He attended the University of Georgia and earned a dental degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he later completed his residency.  Stacey and his wife, Jane, have three children and six grandchildren.

 

Sexual Offender Registration Review Board

Kimberly B. McCoy, 36, Cartersville – McCoy is the Director of the Victim Witness Unit for the District Attorney's Office of the Cobb Judicial Circuit. She is a member of the Cobb County SANE/SART Committee, the Advisory Board for the Social Work Program of Kennesaw State University, the Cobb Collaborative, the Cobb County Domestic Violence Task Force and the Cobb County Coalition for Child Abuse Prevention. McCoy served on the board of directors for the Cherokee Family Violence Center and the Anna Crawford Center for Children. She earned a bachelor's degree from the Women's College of Brenau University and a master's degree from Kennesaw State University.
