Food Network’s Famous Cook to Demonstrate Southern Brunch for First Spouses
GREENSBORO, GA - Paula Deen, host of Paula’s Home Cooking on the Food Network,
will be joined by several of the South’s first spouses on Tuesday, August 30 as she demonstrates
how to prepare a Southern brunch at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation, in Greensboro,
Georgia, home of the 71st Southern Governor’s Association (SGA) meeting.
"We’re very excited about meeting Paula Deen and participating in a hands-on cooking
lesson,” said Georgia’s First Lady Mary Perdue. “It promises to be a lot of fun."
As the 2005 Chairman of SGA, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue serves as host of the
annual meeting and has chosen heritage tourism as his primary initiative for his year-long term.
Heritage tourism encompasses the historical and cultural destinations that vacationers are
increasingly choosing to visit because of the enriching experiences these sites have to offer.
Savannah is home to many heritage tourism destinations, including Paula Deen’s two restaurants,
The Lady and Sons and Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to visit an excellent example of heritage
tourism on Monday, August 29, when they travel to Madison, Georgia, which claims some of the
most visited pre-Civil War and Victorian homes in Georgia. The City of Madison was recently
named the “#1 Small Town in America” by Travel Holiday Magazine.
The cooking demonstration with Paula Deen and the first spouses will be open for a media
photo opportunity. The demonstration begins at 8:00 a.m., and will take place at the Presidential
Cottage of The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation. All media planning to attend should RSVP to
the Governor’s Press Office at 404-651-7774.
The 71st annual meeting of the SGA is taking place Saturday, August 27 through Tuesday,
August 30 at the Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia.
