Governor Announces Appointments to Cobb County State Court, Fulton County State Court

           ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue today announced three judicial appointments for Fulton and Cobb counties.   Wesley B. Tailor was appointed to the Fulton County State Court to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable Albert L. Thompson. Maria B. Golick was appointed to the Cobb County State Court Division I to fill the vacancy created with the resignation of Russell Carlisle.  Robert D. Leonard was appointed to the State Court of Cobb County Division II to fill the vacancy created with the appointment of The Honorable Maria Golick to Division I. 

Brief biographies are provided below:

StateCourt of Fulton County 

 

Wesley B. Tailor – Tailor is the Director of the State Elections Division in the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office. Previously he served as the General Counsel to the Secretary of State, Assistant Solicitor-General in DeKalb County, and associate at Troutman Sanders LLP. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and a law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He is married to Jaime L. Theriot.

 

 

CobbCounty StateCourt Division I

 

Maria B. Golick – Golick currently serves as judge for the State Court of Cobb County, Division II.  Previously she practiced as the sole practitioner and also served as both the Assistant District Attorney and the Assistant Solicitor General for the Cobb Judicial Circuit. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a juris doctorate degree from Georgia State College of Law. She and her husband, Rich, have two children.

 

CobbCounty StateCourt Division II

 

Robert D. Leonard – Leonard is a partner with Leonard, Rickman & Holloway P.C. in Marietta. Previously, he served as President of the Cobb Bar Criminal Law Section as well as the Cobb Bar Young Lawyers Section. A former member of the Cobb Bar Board of Trustees, Leonard serves the Cobb community on the Cobb Alcohol Task Force and is board member for the Tommy Nobis Center. Leonard earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his juris doctorate from the University of Kentucky School of Law. He and his wife, Lauri, have three children.
