Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA  Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments. Brief biographies are provided below:

 

State Ethics Commission

Kent B. Alexander, 52, Atlanta− Alexander is an attorney, who has served as senior vice president and general counsel of Emory University, a partner with the law firm of King and Spalding, and as United States Attorney for the northern district of Georgia. He has served on the State Ethics Commission, State Properties Commission, and the Georgia Building Authority. He is a co-founder of Hands on Atlanta and is past president of the American Jewish Committee. Alexander earned a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a law degree from the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Diane, have two children.

 

Board of Community Affairs

Harold W. Carlisle, 79, Macon, At Large Representative − Carlisle owned and operated an auto parts business in Macon for over 30 years. He served 12 years as a Monroe County Commissioner, the last four as chairman. He served in the Georgia National Guard from 1947-1983. He is a former board member of the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority, as well as the Georgia Development Authority. Carlisle is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and also a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He and his wife, Betty, have one daughter.

 

Board of Governors of the George L. Smith II Georgia World Congress Center Authority

Jeffrey J. Anderson, 54, Cumming − Anderson is a managing director at Huron Consulting Group where he serves as a senior business advisor to the healthcare, financial services, and automotive sectors. Prior to joining Huron, he was a partner at Callaway Partners, a Georgia based consultancy acquired by Huron. He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army Reserves, Aviation branch. He served on the boards of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and the Department of Community Health. Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Davis and a master’s degree from the University of Southern California. He and his wife, Sylvia, have four children and three grandchildren.

 

Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission

Hunter E. Towns, 32, Atlanta− Towns is a founding partner of Georgia Capitol Partners Public Affairs Group. He previously served as government relations manager for Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge, and Rice and deputy director of legislative affairs for Governor Sonny Perdue. Towns earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.

 

GeorgiaDevelopment Authority

Vincent M. “Zippy” Duvall, 54, Greensboro, Public Member − Duvall is president of Georgia Farm Bureau Federation and its affiliate companies. He is the owner of Shady Oaks Farm, a brood cow beef operation and poultry farm. He serves on the Governor’s Agricultural Advisory Committee and is past chairman of the Greene County Board of Commissioners. He and his wife, Bonnie, have four children and one grandchild.

 

GeorgiaEnvironmental Finance Authority

Genous S. “Gator” Hodges, 39, Jackson, County Representative Hodges is a yard master for CSX transportation and is a Butts County commissioner. He is also a member of Leadership Georgia class of 2010. He served as a police officer with the Bryan County Sheriff's Department and the Henry County Police Department. He and his wife, Keri, have one child.

 

GeorgiaCommission for Service and Volunteerism

Miranda D. Klein, 28, Atlanta, At Large Representative – Klein serves as director of constituent services in the office of Governor Sonny Perdue. She previously worked on local and statewide campaigns with the Georgia Republican Party in the 2004 election cycle and spent two years on the Governor’s reelection campaign. Klein earned a bachelor’s degree from Furman University. She and her husband, Marty, live in Atlanta.

 

Molly Stofko, 27, Atlanta, At Large Representative – Stofko serves as deputy scheduler for Governor Sonny Perdue. She previously worked for Executive Security at the Department of Public Safety. She is actively involved in an Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association team. Stofko earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.

 

Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission

W. Jordan Gillis, 36, Atlanta − Gillis is a managing associate with ScottMadden, Inc. Previously, he worked at McMaster-Carr supply company where he held numerous positions including sales development and marketing manager. He served in the United States Army as a field artillery officer and earned several awards including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Gillis earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a master’s degree from Emory University. He and his wife, Leigh Ann, have two children.
