Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA  Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.  Brief biographies are provided below:

 

Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Authority

Lee Roquemore Burton, 51, St. Simons Island Burton previously managed Super Sod operations in middle Georgia and also managed the Canongate Golf Group. She was twice named Georgia female player of the year and competed in the 1995 US Amateur Golf Championship and 10 US Mid-Amateur gold championships. She is currently competing in dressage at the Grand Prix level. Burton attended The University of Georgia. She and her husband, Jeff, have two children and one grandchild.

 

Leon “Stan” J. Lomax, 86, Fort Valley Lomax served on the board of directors of the Middle Georgia Technical Institute and on the President's Advisory Board of Fort Valley State University. He is past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Peach County Chamber of Commerce and past chairman of the Development Authority of Peach County. He served as head of the Department of Health and Physical Education and head football coach at Fort Valley State University. Lomax earned a bachelor’s degree from Fort Valley State University and a master’s degree from Boston University. He and his wife, Mary Lucille, have three children and five grandchildren.

 

Kirby R. Moore, 65, Macon – Moore is a partner at Moore and McCollum, Attorneys at Law. He serves on the board of directors for the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation. He is an emeritus member of the University of Georgia Athletic Association and past president of The University of Georgia Alumni Society. Moore earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Georgia and a law degree from Mercer University. He has four children.

 

W. Anthony “Tony” Moye, 62, McDonough – Moye is the founder of Moye’s Pharmacy. He is a trustee of the University of West Georgia Foundation and Mercer University. He serves on the board of United Community Bank in Henry County. He is past chair of Henry County Chamber of Commerce and past Henry County Citizen of the Year. Moye earned a bachelor’s degree from University of West Georgia and a pharmacy degree from Mercer University. He and his wife, Nancy, have one child and two grandchildren.


Emily Parker Myers, 68, Macon – Myers is president and chief executive officer of Myers McRae Executive Search and Consulting. She is past senior vice president for advancement and external affairs at Mercer University. She currently serves on the board of trustees of the James T. and Carolyn T. McAfee Foundation and the board of directors of the Rome Chamber of Commerce Music Festival in New York. She served on the board of directors of the City Club, Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Rotary Club. Myers earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. She has one child. 

 

Judicial Qualifications Commission

Linda Evans, 44, Atlanta – Evans serves as vice chairman of the Georgia Board of Driver Services. She is past director of legal services for CNA Pro and currently engages in pro bono and charitable endeavors. She served on the board of the J.C. and Frankie Watts Foundation and the board of Atlanta Women of Vision. Evans earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and a law degree from Fordham University. She is married to J. Randolph Evans.

 

Veterans Service Board

Shawn M. Hanley, 43, Atlanta – Hanley is president of Shawn Hanley and Associates, LLC, a government relations consulting company. He served as special assistant to the Office of the White House Liaison in the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. As a United States Marine, he was awarded the National Defense Medal for his stateside efforts in Operation Desert Storm and the Meritorious Service Award for his work as deputy assistant secretary of congressional relations for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. He is a past member of the board of advisors for both the Georgia and Atlanta Chambers of Commerce. Hanley earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is married to Tracy Hanley.
