Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA  Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.  Brief biographies are provided below:

 

Board of Economic Development

Michael “Mike” D. Shea, 55, Thomasville, Second Congressional District Representative – Shea is the owner of Fernleaf Investments. He founded an advertising newspaper, The Hickory Golden Pages, and previously owned Shea Communications. He serves as chairman of Longhouse Hospitality and also serves on the Tall Timbers Research Station Board and The Brookwood School Board. Shea earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Laura, have three children.

 

Board of Trustees of the Herty Foundation

A. Mathewson “Matt” Gignilliat, III, 53, Smyrna – Gignilliat is the distribution manager for Georgia Power Company in the Metro West Region. He is a trustee on both the Armstrong Atlantic State University Foundation Board and the Savannah Technical College Foundation Board. He is a former member of the Certified Workforce Corporation, the Savannah Economic Development Authority Advisory Board, and the Savannah Area Manufacturers’ Council. Gignilliat earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Maggie, have four children and two grandchildren.

 

GeorgiaAgricultural Exposition Authority

Jerry D. Davis, 71, Hawkinsville – Davis is manager of the Heart of Georgia Peanut and Gin Company. He is a member of the Georgia Agribusiness Council and the Chickasha of Georgia. He is a past president of the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Plant Food and Education Society, and the Southern Peanut Warehouseman’s Association. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa. He and his wife, Jimmie Lee, have two children and five grandchildren.

 

Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission

Milton A. Raven, Sr., 79, Americus, Second Congressional District Representative – Raven is the director of Colam/Project SAVE Inc. Job Training Center. He previously served a Principal of Webster County Schools and as a teacher in both Worth and Webster counties. He is a member of Rosalyn Carter Care-net, a trustee of Georgia Southwestern State University, and a board member of Koinonia Partners. Raven earned a bachelor’s degree from Albany State University and a master’s degree from Atlanta University. He and his wife, Willie Bell, have three children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

 

GeorgiaStateBoard of Architects and Interior Designers

Craig R. Buckley, 50, Bellville, Architect Representative – Buckley is president of James W. Buckley and Associates. He is a member of the East Georgia College Foundation, AIA of Savannah, and the Rotary Club of Swainsboro. Buckley earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Lenora, have two children.

 

State Board of Barbers

Darrell C. Bullock, 46, Marietta Bullock is the owner and founder of Darrell’s Barber Shop and of Lord and Darrell Properties Inc. He is a member of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and the Marietta High School Foundation Board. He previously served on the Craft Advisory Board for Atlanta Barbering and Beauty and was named the “Business Man of the Year” and “Hero of the Year” from the Cobb County NAACP. Bullock attended Brown Barber College and earned a degree from Morris Brown College. He has two children.

 

Georgia Board of Landscape Architects

Hugh O. “Chip” Brown, 40, Locust Grove, Landscape Architect Representative – Brown is president of Breedlove Land Planning, Inc. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the United States Green Building Council Georgia Chapter. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Sandy, have two children.

 

GeorgiaStateBoard of Physical Therapy

J. Chadwick “Chad” Whitefield, 37, Rome. Physical Therapist Assistant Representative – Whitefield is a partner at Advanced Rehabilitation and Consulting Inc. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Georgia Physical Therapy Association, and the Orthopedic Section of the APTA. He is also a Floyd County commissioner and a board member of Floyd County Division of Family and Children Services. Whitefield attended Auburn University and earned an associate’s degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham. He and his wife, Lauren, have two children.

Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission

Craig S. Lesser, 59, Sandy Springs – Lesser is a managing partner of Pendleton Consulting Group, LLC. He is a former commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and previously served as managing director of McKenna Long & Aldridge. He is chairman of the board of both the World Trade Center-Atlanta and of the World Chamber of Commerce, and serves as chairman of the international committee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Lesser also serves as secretary of the Georgia China Alliance and is a trustee of CIFAL, a UN based initiative to train elected officials in the western hemisphere. He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and the Regional Leadership Institute. Lesser earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York College at Oneonta and graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children.

 

State Board of Technical and Adult Education

Daniel F. Israel, 43, Atlanta, Fourth Congressional District Representative – Israel is senior manager of mobile marketing for The Home Depot. He is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Georgia, a 2005 graduate of the Coverdell Leadership Institute, and participated with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. Israel earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University, a master’s degree from the London School of Economics, and a master’s from the University of Michigan. He and his wife, Joanna, have two children.

 

Dinah C. Wayne, 66, Flowery Branch, Ninth Congressional District Representative – Wayne is a member of the Lanier Technical College Foundation board, the Flowery Branch Historic Preservation Commission, and the board of directors of the Gainesville Arts Council. She is a former member of the President’s Advisory Council at Gainesville State College & University, and she volunteers with Hall County schools. Wayne earned a bachelor’s degree from Brenau University and an associate’s degree from Gainesville State College & University. She and her husband, Alan, have two children and six grandchildren.

 

State Construction Industry Licensing Board

W. Bruce Bowman, 55, Sugar Valley, Electrical Engineer Representative – Bowman is vice president of Fox Systems Incorporated. He is a licensed electrical contractor and a registered professional engineer in Georgia. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers, the Georgia chapter of Independent Electrical Contractors, and the International Society of Electrical & Electronics Engineers. Bowman is also president of the Northwest Georgia Chapter of Professional Engineers and a member of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce. Bowman earned an associate’s degree from Dalton State College and both an EET and MSEET degree from Southern Polytechnic State University. He and his wife, Agnes, have two children and two grandchildren.

 

State Medical Education Board

Mark G. Hanly, M.D., 53, Saint Simons Island Hanly is the chairman of the department of pathology at Southeast Georgia Health System and the director of anatomical pathology and cytology services at Southeastern Pathology Associates. He is also the director of laboratories at Meadows Regional Medical Center, pathology director at the GERD Center of Excellence, and a consultant pathologist at Putnam Community Medical Center. He is a member of the College of American Pathologists, Glynn County Medical Society, and the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Hanly earned a medical degree from the Godfrey Huggins School of Medicine. He and his wife, Kim, have two children.
