Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments.  Brief biographies are provided below:

Board of Natural Resources

Steven R. Woodruff, 46, Canton, Sixth Congressional District Representative – Woodruff is a licensed professional engineer and is the president and chief executive officer of Woodruff & Howe Environmental Engineering, Inc. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Consulting Engineering Council (ACEC), and the ACEC of Georgia. He is active with the American Water Works Association and served on the governing board of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District. He is a member of the board of directors for Terra Renewal Services and the board of directors for the Cherokee County Water & Sewage Authority. Woodruff earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. He and his wife, Lisa, have two sons.

 

Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission

F. Faison Middleton, IV, 40, Albany, Second Congressional District Representative – Middleton is a partner at Watson Spence LLP. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Dougherty Circuit Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. He is active in the product liability section of the Georgia Bar, has chaired numerous committees for the Atlanta Bar Association, and has served as the regional coordinator for the high school mock trial competition in the Atlanta Region for four years. He serves on the board of trustees of Leadership Georgia and is a graduate of the Class of 2007. He is also a graduate of the 2005/2006 class of Leadership Albany, and is president of the non-profit Lily Pad SANE Center, Inc. He is a member of the Dougherty County Rotary Club where he serves on the board as treasurer. Middleton earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a law degree from Georgia State University College of Law. He and his wife, Kari, have two sons.

 

Council on American Indian Concerns

MariaTeresa A. Tersigni-Tarrant, Ph.D., 31, Lawrenceville – Tersigni-Tarrant is an assistant professor of cellular biology and anatomy at the Medical College of Georgia/ University of Georgia Medical Partnership.  She is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Anthropology at UGA.  She was named the forensic anthropologist for the state of Georgia at large by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and is an external expert consultant for Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command Central Identification Laboratory at Hickam Air Force Base.  Tersigni-Tarrant earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and earned a master’s degree and doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.  She is married to Christopher Tarrant.

 

Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists

Rev. William C. Bacon, DMIN, 55, Tyrone – Bacon is a licensed marriage and family therapist and is vice president for development for the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation. He is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists as well as the Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. He is a fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and an alcohol and drug risk reduction evaluator and instructor for the State of Georgia Departments of Human Services and Public Safety.  Bacon earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University as well as a master’s degree and a doctoral degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He and his wife, Angela, have two children and three grandchildren.

 

Bonita “Bonnie” P. Barker, 63, Forsyth – Barker is a licensed professional counselor in private practice.  She is a certified Imago relationship therapist, a certified employee assistance professional, and a national certified counselor.  She is a clinical member of the American Counseling Association and Imago Relationships International. She is a graduate of Leadership Monroe, class of 2003. Parker earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University, a master’s of education from the University of Georgia, and a master’s of science from Georgia State University.  She and her husband, David, have two children and seven grandchildren.

 

Eunice L. Mixon, 78, Tifton, Consumer Member – Mixon is the Senate door keeper.  She serves on the Tifton-Tift County Library Board and the Coastal Plain Regional Library Board.  She is a member of the Georgia Civil War Commission and the State Bar of Georgia Disciplinary Board.  She was a member of the Georgia Student Finance Commission for thirteen years. She was also a member of the State Elections Board, the Vocational Education Task Force, and the Advisory Council on Consolidation of Education.  She has been named Teacher of the Year and Distinguished Alumnus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She is a member of the Tift County Chamber of Commerce Wall of Fame and was named one of the 2004 “Most Influential South Georgians”. Mixon earned a degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University and a master’s and specialist degree from the University of Georgia. She and her late husband, Albert, have two children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

 

Jack H. Perryman, 69, Leary – Perryman is a mental health therapist with the Albany Area Community Service Board. He volunteers as a disaster counselor with the Red Cross and is involved with Albany Toastmasters, of which he is also past president. He was voted employee of the year in 2004 at Calhoun State Prison. Perryman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree from Troy State University. He has three children.

 

State Board of Accountancy

Elizabeth W. Hardin, 49, Macon - Hardin is administrative partner at McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks & Co., LLP.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and past president of the Greater Middle Georgia Chapter of the GSCPA’s.  Harding is treasurer for the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Downtown Macon.  She is a member of the Wesleyan College Board of Visitors and the Career Women’s Network.  She received the 2006 Woman of Achievement Award from the CWN, and the 2000 Distinguished Alumna Award from Shorter College. Hardin earned a bachelor’s degree from Shorter College.  She is married to Phil Hardin.

 

State Board of Barbers

Richard K. Mullis, Sr., 58, Payne City – Mullis is the owner and operator of The Barber Shop in Macon.  He is the former mayor of Payne City and is the chief executive officer and founder of the Small Town Mayors Association of Georgia.  He earned a degree from Central Georgia Technical College.  He and is wife, Kathy, have three children and four grandchildren.

 

State Board of Registration for Professional Geologists

Lillian J. Furlow, 42, Dunwoody – Furlow is a senior project manager and hydrogeologist for CH2M Hill, Inc. She is a licensed professional geologist in Georgia and Alabama and serves on the board of trustees of the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Furlow earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s degree from Clemson University.  She and her husband, Brandon, have two children.

 

State Board of Veterinary Medicine

Edsel D. Davis, DVM, 66, Macon – Davis is the owner and president of Northside- Wesleyan Animal Hospital.  He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.  He is also a member of the Macon Rotary Club, the Shield Club and the Idle Hour Club.  He is a member of the Mercer University Executive Forum.  Davis earned an associate’s degree from South Georgia College and a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia.  He and his wife, Shannon, have three children and four grandchildren.

 

State Forestry Commission

Charles “Chuck” E. Williams, 54, Watkinsville – Williams is president and chief executive offcer of North Georgia Bank. He is a member of the University of Georgia Alumni Association Board of Directors and Finance Committee, the Board of Directors of the Oconee County Rotary Club and is chairman-elect of the Georgia Bankers Association.  He is also a member of the Georgia Forestry Association and Forest Stewardship Steering Committee.  He was named Tree Farmer of the Year in 2005 and is a member of the Georgia Tree Farm Advisory Committee. Williams is a member of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Advisory Council, the Clarke- Oconee Cattlemen’s Association, and the Oconee County 4-H Program Development Team.  Williams earned an associate’s degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.  He is married to Beth Williams.

 

State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors

Eugene “Gene” C. Dunwody, Jr., 46, Macon, Architect Representative – Dunwody is an architect and partner at Dunwody/Beeland Architects, Inc. He is past president of the Macon Rotary Club and of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Foundation. He also previously served on the board of directors of the Macon Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, class of 1994. Dunwody earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is married to B. J. Dunwody and has three children and three stepchildren.

 

State Medical Education Board

Lee T. Woodall, M.D., 55, Barnesville – Woodall practices family medicine with Drs. Woodall, Wilson & Manley, LLP. He is a member of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Medical Association of Georgia. He is also a member of the American Medical Association and the Upson County Medical Society. He is on the board of Honduras Outreach, Inc., and is the chairperson of the Lamar County Board of Health. Woodall earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, Leesa, have three children and one grandchild.
