Governor Issues Writ of Election for State House Seat

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that he has issued a writ of special election to fill the vacancy of House District 19 due to the resignation of Rep. Glenn Richardson. Rep. Richardson submitted his letter this morning with an effective date of today, January 11. 

The special election to fill the vacancy will be held February 23, 2010.

Qualifying dates will be set by the Secretary of State’s office. Below is the writ of election:

House District 19 has become vacant due to the resignation of Representative Glenn Richardson.

Therefore, pursuant to Article V, Section II, Paragraph VIII of the Constitution of the State of Georgia and Section 21-2-544 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, a writ of election is hereby issued to the Secretary of State for a special election to be held on February 23, 2010, to fill the temporary vacancy in District 19 of the Georgia House of Representatives.
