ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments. Brief biographies are provided below:

Robert “Bob” S. Jepson, Jr., 66, Savannah- Jepson is chairman and chief executive officer of Jepson Associates, Inc., a private investment firm. He serves on the Board of Dominion Resources in Richmond, VA. He also serves on the boards of Savannah College of Art and Design and the Lucas Theatre. He served as chairman of the 2008 SEUS/Canada Alliance Conference in Savannah and of the Georgia Cancer Coalition. He is trustee emeritus of the University of Richmond. Jepson earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Richmond. He and his wife, Alice, have two grown children and four grandchildren.

H. Allen Poole, 52, Buchanan, County Representative – Poole is chairman of the Haralson County Board of Commissioners. He previously served as a member of the security team for Home Depot, Inc., where he was responsible for the daily protection of the Home Depot corporate offices, buildings and employees. He also served as a Georgia State Patrol Officer for eighteen years. Poole earned a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University. He and his wife, Mandy, have one child.

Susan T. Brantley, 49, Sandersville- Brantley is a fourth grade math and science teacher at Sandersville Elementary. She is certified in areas of biology, early childhood education, middle grades language arts, science, and social studies. She is a member of the school council and is grade chair. She has received the Teacher of the Year award and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville. Brantley earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and State University and a master’s degree from Walden University. She and her husband, Howard, have two grown children.

Michael “Mike” L. Berg, 62, Dawsonville, County Commissioner Representative- Berg is chairman of the Dawson County Board of Commissioners and chairman of First Citizens Financial Corporation. He is a member of Family Connection, Dawson County Board of Health, Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Dawson County. He is a member of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) board of managers and executive committee. He is chairman of ACCG’s Annexation Committee, Public Defender Committee and Water Resource Committee. Berg earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Jane, have two grown children and three grandchildren.
Ronald “Ron” C. Cross, 67, Evans, County Commissioner Representative- Cross is chairman of the Columbia County Board of Commissioners. He served on the Indigent Defense Committee and is a member of the St. John Towers Advisory Board. Cross is on the board of trustees for the Augusta District, United Methodist Church, where he also serves as a Lay Speaker. Cross earned a bachelor’s degree from Furman University. He and his wife, Jan, have one grown child and one grandchild.
Melvin G. Davis, 67, Watkinsville, County Commissioner Representative- Davis is chairman of the Oconee County Board of Commissioners. He was recently elected to serve as third vice president of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and is on the executive committee of the board of managers. He was appointed by Governor Perdue to serve on the State Workforce Investment Board and the Commission for a New Georgia’s Service Delivery Task Force. Davis is chairman of the Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority and the Madison, Athens-Clarke, Oconee Regional Transportation Authority (MACORTS). He is a member of the Clarke-Oconee Cattlemen’s Association, Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation and the Oconee Rotary Club. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Esther, have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
Tony M. Thaw, 51, St. Simons Island, County Commissioner Representative- Thaw is president of Thaw’s Electric Service, Inc. and serves on the Glynn County Board of Commissioners. He is chairman of the Glynn County Finance Committee and is a member of the Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission. Thaw is on the board of directors for Two Way Sport Fishing Club and the Golden Isles Career Academy. He is past president of the St. Simons Exchange Club and the Frederica Club. He is a University of Georgia Certified County Commissioner. He and his wife, Kim, have two children.
