Governor Perdue Announces Judicial Appointment

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue today announced the appointment of J. Wade Padgett to fill the vacancy on the Superior Court of the Augusta Judicial Circuit created by the resignation of the Honorable Duncan Wheale. Judge Wheale’s resignation will go into effect on January 31, 2009. The Augusta Judicial Circuit includes Columbia, Richmond and Burke counties.
A brief biography is provided below:
J. Wade Padgett, 43, Evans – Padgett is the president of J. Wade Padgett, P.C. He currently serves as Chief Magistrate Judge for Columbia County. Padgett sits on the board of directors of Leadership Augusta and is a member of the board of directors for the Augusta Bar Association. He is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Evans, Georgia. Padgett received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from Georgia State University. He and his wife Alice have two children.
