Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

                ATLANTA Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Alexander S. Gross, M.D., 48, Atlanta — Gross is a physician at the Georgia Dermatology Center.  He is a member of the Atlanta Dermatological Association, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American College of Cosmetic Surgery. Gross earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a medical degree from the University of South Florida.  He and his wife, Joanne, have two children.

 

Marion O. Lee, Jr., M.D., 45, Cordele — Lee specializes in interventional pain management with the Affinity Health Group.  He served as attending anesthesiologist, director of respiratory therapy and chief of staff at Crisp Regional Hospital.  He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia, and the American Association of Pain Management.  Lee earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Auburn University and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.  He and his wife, Denah, have four children.

 

Richard L. Weil, M.D., 57, Atlanta — Weil is a pediatrician with Piedmont Pediatrics.  He is chairman of the department of pediatrics at Piedmont Hospital.  He is a member of the board of directors of Kids First Pediatric Alliance and the 1998 Society of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Weil earned a bachelor’s degree from American University and both a master’s degree and a medical degree from Georgetown University.  He and his wife, Carole, have two grown children.

 

Board of Human Resources

William “Billy” J. Richardson, 47, Dallas, At Large Representative — Richardson is the assistant principal and academy director at Kennesaw Mountain High where he was named the 2003 teacher of the year.   He was named Kennesaw Citizen of the Year in 2007 and served as Operations Specialist First Class in the U.S. Navy.  Richardson earned an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He and his wife, Cheryl, have two children.

Kevin J. Kwilinski, 39, Kennesaw — Kwilinski is the vice president of supply chain for Graphic Packaging International, Inc. where he previously served as vice president of continuous improvement and business services.  Kwilinski earned a bachelor’s degree from Greenville College and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan.  He and his wife, Amy, have four children.

 

Lee Ann Meadows, 51, Decatur  Meadows is a kindergarten/first grade teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing at Rebecca Minor Elementary School.  She previously served as a teacher in the elementary department of the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf.  She is a member of the Atlanta Junior League and served as a district advisor.  Meadows earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree from Piedmont College.    

 

Carla S. Shird, 32, Alpharetta — Shird is a mental health counselor working with independent clinical counselor contractors such as the Fayette County School System and GREAT DAY.  She is a certified deaf interpreter and a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and American Counseling Association.  Shird earned a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a master’s degree from Gallaudet University.

 

Gregory S. Waller, 44, Milledgeville — Waller is chief administrator of Oconee ENT & Cosmetic Surgery Center.  He is a licensed hearing instrument specialist, a certified personal coder, a certified healthcare compliance consultant, and a certified healthcare compliance officer.  He currently works as a consultant for numerous companies including Iatronic Development, LLC and The Hearing Center at Oconee ENT, and is the owner of Lake Sinclair Resorts.  He is a member of the International Hearing Society and the Georgia Society of Hearing Professionals.  Waller earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and State University. He is married to Amy Waller and has three children and two step-children.

 

J. Comer Yates, 55, Atlanta — Yates is executive director of the Atlanta Speech School.  He serves on the Berry College board of visitors, the Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA board of directors and as president of Camp Twin Lakes. He is a member of Friends of the First Tee of East Lake and he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Atlanta Bar Association in 1998.  Yates earned a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from Emory University. He and his wife, Sally, have two children.

Kelly H. Gay, 48, Atlanta, (Reappointment) — Gay is past chairman, chief executive officer, and president of KnowledgeStorm, Inc.  She served as IBM vice president North American media and entertainment division.  She serves on the board of directors of the Bank of Atlanta, the Technology Association of Georgia, and the Board of Directors Network.  She was named to both BtoB Media Business magazine’s list of Who’s Who in Business Publishing and Catalyst magazine’s Top 25 Atlanta Entrepreneurs in 2007.  Gay earned a bachelor’s degree from Newcomb College of Tulane University.  She and her husband, Alan, have two children.
