Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:
Board of Trustees of the Georgia Firefighters Pension Fund
Samuel Chipper Gardner, 51, Griffin, GA, Active Firefighter Member – Gardner is fire chief of the Spalding County Fire Department. He is a member of the Georgia Firefighters Pension Fund, the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, the Georgia State Firefighters Association, and is the past president of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs. Gardner is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association and the Area Four All Hazards Committee. He attended Clayton Junior College and West Georgia College. Gardner and his wife, Norma, have two children.
Board of Trustees of the Subsequent Injury Trust Fund
Jimmy C. Beck, Sr., 43, Carrollton, GA, Insurance Industry Representative – Beck is the director of government relations for Nationwide Insurance Companies. He previously served as deputy commissioner of insurance for the state of Georgia, director of the Senate Information Office, and senior executive assistant to the Lieutenant Governor. Beck has lectured across the nation as a professional presenter and also currently serves as an adjunct instructor for the West Central Georgia College School of Business. He and his wife, Lucy, have one son.
